Deep + Steep = 912 cal. burned!

Yes...the white stuff was deep (knee high in some places) and unbroken by either animal or human. And it was steep...the mountain is steep even when it's covered in grass and wildflowers. But 1.25 hrs of snowshoeing and breaking a trail in very deep snow UP that mtn. to the top where I could see the whole valley across to the ski area made the heart work hard and burned 912 calories. Yay!
The downhill trail? Glorious! Tried to avoid my tracks & make new ones to keep the heart working. Gravity helps-- I love it (except in my upper body parts! LOL)
My first trek out on snowshoes this season..I was dreading it because I knew how hard it would be. I'd forgotten how beautiful it would be...many more such hikes to come!
