A re-Blog: Don't you love it When....

Friday, December 31, 2010

...When you've decided to treat yourself, so you ate a few things which later left you overridden with guilt; but because you'd not eaten much for your meals, when you check your calorie totals, expecting the worst, YOU ARE STILL ON TARGET!!

...When you try on a pair of pants which had been very tight, and they fall down!!.....

....When you are finally thin enough to consider spending some money on new clothes for this brand new you.....

....When someone comes up to you and doesn't recognize you, because you've lost so much weight.....

....When you totally don't feel like working out, but you force yourself to anyway; and afterward feel like SUPERWOMAN!! (able to leap tall buildings in a single bound).....

....When the nurse says "OK, Hop on the scale" and you don't want to kill her....

....When you still have five pounds left to your goal weight and no one can believe you still want to lose more weight....

....When many of the aches and pains begin to disappear because you are in better shape and no longer lugging all that weight around....

....When you can go into any store in the mall (EXCEPT Lane Bryant) and find anything you want...and it FITS!

....When you can try on clothes in the dressing room without fear of surveillance cameras or of giggling salesgirls....

...When you can finally, at WHATEVER WEIGHT YOU ARE, like yourself and know that you are a great and beautiful person!

Some of these scenarios are ones that I remember from past weight losses...Some are ones that I've experienced....and some are fantasies I have about what it will feel like to finally meet my goal. I think it's really important to allow our mind to wander into these areas...to look at them as REAL possibilities and to know that it is within our power to make them happen. We will never meet a goal unless we want it so badly that we can TASTE it and it tastes better than that Funny Bone we were just considering. Visualization is important. It trains us to think thin...and people who THINK THIN make THIN DECISIONS. (in other words: decisions which lead to living like a thin person.)

So go ahead: DARE TO IMAGINE!! BUT DO IT WITH HOPE AND JOY, NOT SELF HATRED.

The above is a blog that I wrote early on in my Spark Journey....I just was looking over some of my first entries here...and appreciating how far I've come. (an interesting exercise btw. I would recommend it)...
I remember writing this blog and being pleased with it...and SO much wanting for these things to be true of me.

And now, a little less than a year later, I can honestly say that (except for the one about being 5 pounds from your goal weight...) every one of these things has happened to me in this past year.

HOW AWESOME IS THAT??
