Last Day of the Year!

Friday, December 31, 2010

It is 31st December 2010. In Scotland we use New Years Eve (Hogmanay we call it) to refelect on the past year, where we have succeeded and where we have not. I dont like using the word failed!
So my Blessings, I have a lovely family who are good to me, I have my health, it was sheer joy to see my oldest son marry a lovely girl, I have my own home what else do you need, and for these I am truly thankful.
But so many other things have happened this year, that I will be glad to see the end of it. One of the worst was seeing my youngest son being continually hurt so much by his ex wife. I am afraid I am one of those mothers that when any of your children are hurt, you hurt as well!
So I am going to welcome 2011 with open arms and pray that God will keep us all in his heart!
Happy New year everybody!

I agree that seeing our children hurt under any circumstances is terrible. Happy New Year!

Yes, a mother hurts when their children hurt, no matter the child's age or the reason for the hurt. Whether the hurting is caused by choices the child makes or by choices others make, it still breaks a mother's heart. One of the best pastors I ever had used to say, "It is not what others do to us, but how we react that counts." Wishing peace, love and happiness along with good health and enough to meet our daily living needs for you, your family and friends in 2011.

I hope 2011 is the best year, ever, for all of us on this little team! :) I, too, will not be sad to see 2010 go.

It was my seven times great grandfather who came across the pond (such a pond!) so I didn't know today was called Hogmany. I'll make a note of it where I keep my tartans, my single malts and other things Scottish.

Sympathies about the sadness in the old year, and so admiring of your wisdom in recognizing it, owning it and putting this year's portion away so as to look forward to the joy in the New Year with a whole heart!

Thank you for the good example. I'll fold this year's pain away, keeping as little as I can aside from what I've learned from it.
