Stoked! Oh, and Day 2

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

The Rants From Mommyland team has a gazillion new members! Okay, maybe not a gazillion, but it's easier because the number keeps going up! That, my friends, is awesometastic! So excited!

Today was a good day. I had school. Remembered to pack my lunch and bring my water. But, I overslept and skipped breakfast... again! We'll try that breakfast thing again tomorrow when I don't have class or anywhere else to be at a certain time. I was within my calorie range, but WAY under in protein. I'm going to start off my morning tomorrow with some Kashi GoLEAN Crunch. It's delicious and has protein. I'm glued to my computer now wanting to greet new members, but I'm going to have to detach and go do some WiiFit while I have the house all to myself. Even though they are my family, I still don't like dancing around my living room like a crazy person in front of them. I'll get over it someday.

I've started snacking on hard boiled eggs because I'm usually so low in protein. In fact, in the last two weeks I'm sure I've eaten at least a dozen eggs all on my own (one carton used to last us almost a month!) Soy milk is also good for protein without tons of carbs or calories.

Keep up the good work, sounds like the year is off to a great start!

Thanks for the advice! I will look into getting the original Kashi, which believe it or not, I've never tried. I'll kill off the boxes of GoLEAN crunch and crisp and begin the quest to switch to regular. Unfortunately, I can't do sugar substitutes. My body does not like them. But honey works for me usually, or I just deal with the lack of sweet by throwing fruit on top. I get local produce delivered every week so I always have lots of nummy produce laying around.

I try to start my days with Original Kashi-- add a bit of splenda and it tastes less like meow mix and twigs and more like sugar smaks cereal! I usually reach for the original because while it isn't quite as tasty, it IS quite a bit healthier...

I don't know if you guys have it where you live, but we have a lactose-free milk that has less sugar and more protein and calcium than regular milk... it is GOOD and also healthier.

A lot of the time I will add a slice of toast from a higher protein/fiber bread and either use spray butter or just some jam on top to get closer to 300 calories.

It is amazing all the great combinations of foods out there that are healthy and nutritious!!
