Well, I'm here in the hospital...in the bed where I will hopefully only spend the next week....But with me that is always highly unlikely. There are always complications. With this surgery ,there has been a complication even before we began.
I have hyponatremia...Low sodium levels in the blood...which is a life threatening situation that can lead to brain hemorrhages or coma or death. (oh wow, that sounds bad! haha) I have it chronically but at times it wanders into the acute numbers which it was when they drew blood at the pretesting. I felt sick as a dog yesterday with what I discovered were all symptoms of this problem....
So they decided to admit me two days before the surgery to try to boost those sodium levels....via IV's of concentrated sodium.
That is all what it is...I'm not distressed in any way by it...I'm used to being in the hospital ...unfortunately it is my home away from home...and I know most of the staff here...so get treated well, like a long lost daughter! lol...It doesn't hurt that my husband works here and that I used to work here....
I have my laptop,Kindle and cell phone, so as Vicki my Spark friend said.
I'm all wired and set.
Actually it's a nice change of scenery...after being homebound for so long, it is nice ot have a different set of walls to look at. But I know it will get old fast, and soon I'll be longing for my kitty cat to keep my lap warm....She was upset when she saw me leave with my bags today...She knows what that means. She always spends the first week that I am gone depressed and refusing to eat or play. :( Poor Mayo! Because I'm always home and because I"m the only one who will let her sleep on their beds...I'm her special "pet"....haha. I know where I stand!
Mayo HATES my laptop....For obvious reasons. She thinks that SHE has exclusive rights as my Lap-top....and will take her nose and plow it off of my lap...If she's determined to occupy my lap, there's no denying her...Bested by a 12 pound cat!!! I'm ashamed to admit it.
She likes my Kindle though...doesn't take up lapspace and allows for one-handed operation which keeps the other one free to pet her!
So my surgery is scheduled for Tuesday...Assuming they can get the sodium back to an acceptable range. Stay tuned for more updates as they devleop....
My daughter has a good solution for the Mayo/laptop problem...but I cna't pull it off
