I have been in Florida since Jan. 14th. I have stayed within my calorie range all but 3 days. I have increased my exercise dramatically. I have power walked over 4.5 miles for 3 weeks and then not losing anything I increased power walking to a minimum of 8 miles. For a time I got the message that I wasn't eating enough so I increased what I was taking in. Still nothing;
I lose 2 and then regain so this is just fluid changes. I am weighing and measuring all my food. I am thinking now that maybe I will stop eating bread , even though I only eat whole grains and no more than a 100 calorie thin sandwich round or a 100 calorie Thomas English muffin. I will give this and potatoes and rice up. I will examine my nutrition feedback closely at the end of the day. I don't know what else to try. Last year I ate the same amount and wasn't exercising and lost 1/2 pound a week. then I got slack , ate more and put 1/2 of the 18 pounds I lost back on. I have been back on track for two months now and nothing coming of. I am so frustrated. But I WON"T QUIT!!!
Karen, for the last two months I have been trying to find fun ways to exercise and make sure that I do something different two to three times a week so that I don't get bored and I make sure I am working the core, lower body and arms. Results ....no weight loss yet but I am loosing inches and gaining energy. I do have to watch eating the white foods and too much bread. Apparently I just don't process it well. My biggest fight is with what I eat after 7pm.I have been trying to eat an orange after dinner as a snack and it seems to help. Good luck and Hang in. Sandy 3532 days ago
Can you totally change your workout? Switch to strength training for a week or two rather than power walking. Maybe it will 'shake' your body up enough to blast through this phase. 3532 days ago
Hang in...You are already benefiting from your choices by respecting your body. I rarely use the scale to reflect my accomplishments. I just trust that my choices are keeping me healthy and happy with myself. I know that scrutinizing the sodium content does help. As a rule of thumb, we don't buy products that list more than 10% of the DVA. 3534 days ago
Your not alone for it seems to go that way for a lot of us ( see my last blog). I just broke my plateau after several months of what seems like trying everything to get the scale to move. Just don’t give up, and trying new things or tricks to jumpstart your body never hurts. You never know when the right link fits. It will happen 3534 days ago
I am so with you... I have been dealing with this for months and months and months. I do not rely on the but try to go with the way I feel, the way my clothes feel, the increased energy and body measurements
Remember you are doing all the right things and all those things together are the tools for a healthier lifestyle.
I don't know why these plateaus happen but the same thing was happening to me. I thought the scale had the number, 140, glued onto it, since it never changed. I also gave up white stuff(pasta, rice, potatoes, bread, pretzels). My weight just sat there, until a couple of weeks ago when it did start to nudge down. It will happen for you soon. It's got to, if you're doing all that walking and staying in calorie range!!

Don't Quit! I know what you are saying. I have been discouraged too! It seems like I lose and gain the same 2 lbs week after week. So I have decided not to get on the scales for right now. I will keep with the program because I do feel better and my clothes are fitting lots better (I refused to get bigger clothes before). Hang in there!!!! 3535 days ago
