Day 66: In the groove again...

Monday, March 07, 2011

...thanx to my fellow Sparklers. Your responses to yesterday's blah blog have helped a lot. So today I came back with a vengeance, lol.

Although everything looks fairly wrecked right now (Himself practically needed smelling salts) I made a lot of headway. I've got three large boxes of goods for the local charity shop, plus six grocery bags of clothes and assorted 'soft stuff.' I also have one tote of 'keeps' loaded and labelled. Meanwhile, he started tackling the yard, so yah, we can do this.

We also made up a list today of things we want to get done before the show starts: new faucet in the kitchen, replace one of the bathroom light fixtures, some things like that. I don't think there's anything major (time-consuming / expensive) that will need doing. It is what it is (!) but after I've sorted, boxed, and removed, I will have a cleaning crew come in and polish it from top to bottom. I don't think it will cost that much, and I'm hoping it will show the house to its best advantage.

The crocuses have already been out, as I think I wrote a week or two ago, and the daffodils look as though they are ready to start any day. Forsythia is well along. Depending how things go, people might see the yard when the azaleas start blooming - I'm not a garden-person in the sense of working in the yard, but I do enjoy colorful flowers. Our yard puts on a lovely show in springtime.

Tomorrow: appointment with realtor to sign the listing agreement, and perhaps we will go line up a storage unit. Oh, and I have to go see what I can find to follow thru on BakerBarb's suggestion, lol...

I hear 'Dear Prudence' from the other room, so it's off to a few minutes of Beatleband before bed.

Goodnight, Sparklers, wherever you are - and again, thank you for your encouragement! What would I do without you?

My husband once accused me of having children so that I could keep going to see the Disney movies. I also vote for the sleep, whatever it costs in work time, it makes up for in efficiency.
I love the Mardi Gras theme. It made my day!

I'm sure you'll be glad when it's all said and done too. I've moved a many a time , I really never minded it cause I'm the type that thrives on change and the new of things, guess that's one of the reasons I'm always trying to rearrange furniture here. Sounds like your spring flowers are beautiful they will make lovely curb appeal !

I'm reading with great interest the experience with selling the old homestead. I may be looking to do the same in the next few years... just so long as I keep my resolve to avoid humane societies, animal rescue projects, and pet stores! emoticon

As for what to do without Spark Friends? Aaaargh! Don't even THINK it!

Your fresh start is so exciting. I know there is the grunt work to get there but how exciting, less junk, less property and a little more dough to enjoy it all. Sounds like you've broken it down in manageable bits, just keep at it. Great idea to get the storage lined up. Everything says that less is better when you are selling a house, so the buyer can visualize their stuff. And the baking bread is a great idea. I know relators that put a tube of chocolate chip cookies in to bake before an open house. Smells it up good!

Make sure they take pictures to post when things are in bloom----and maybe take some yourselves to leave for the buyers so they know where things are coming up----How come you have more color than I do right now?

You HAVE made a lot of headway! Excellent idea to call in a cleaning crew. One less thing you need to worry about. Such good timing with your flowers coming into bloom - that will be a major selling point, I am sure. Everyone appreciates a beautiful garden. emoticon Hope everything else goes smoothly - and quickly!

Sounds like you've got a handle on it all...good for you! Sometimes you need to just have one of those days and then get back in the saddle again. Your plans seem doable and you've really made some good headway with the *stuff*. I especially like the cleaning idea...they say staging and keeping things simple will allow prospective buyers to see the possibilities in your home.

Today Evan and I discovered 5 crocuses in bloom in the southern garden near the house. I love seeing the first crocus of the year, and his wide eyes and excitement just put the whole experience over the top! It was magic...for both of us! emoticon
