Rewards and Punishments

Rewards: During my interval training on the treadmill I ran a total of 15 minutes. I usually only do 12 and while that may not seem like a big jump, it made a huge difference in how my body felt. (I did five sets of 3 minutes, rather than five sets of 2.5 minutes) I could in particular feel the muscles along my spine relaxing. Felt great.

The moral of the story? Small pushes in the right direction lead to big rewards.

Punishments: We had a blowup of children's tempers on the way home from DD8's tennis lessons. I got so sick of the squabbling that I told them that for each word out of their mouths for the rest of the trip home they would have to pick up a dog poop in the back yard. DD10 made it to four. DD8 made it to 35 (Holy Cow that kids is LOUD). We do not have 39 dog poops in the backyard so I decided to have them pick up items around the house. But DH had beat us home and picked up everything and and swept and mopped the hardwood floor (LOVE him!).

The Moral of the Story? We all need someone to once in a while step in and save the day.
