Ive just completed my first week of spark and the 28 day bootcamp and wow!!!

Firstly i have never followed a calorie controlled diet before and i was shocked to discover how many calories there were in fruit, bread and alcohol. No wonder my weight has steadily increased in the last few years! Whilst i mainly eat healthily i was probably adding about a 1000 calories at the end of the day from alcohol and the inevitable toastie or sandwich which i ate late at night as well!! So i've eliminated as much alcohol as i can whilst still allowing myself a small treat and had a healthy snack instead.

As for exercise, i've made myself so much more active - no sitting on the sofa watching endless daytime tv!! I've found that my real weaknesses are my abs and upper body so i plan to work them out a bit more this coming week.

But mainly, this week, i've felt alive!!!! Exercise has, instead of tiring me as id imagined, totally energised me! emoticon I feel amazing!! And im sleeping so much better. I used to struggle to get to sleep and wake up several times during the night and feel awful when i woke up. Now im asleep in a few minutes and sleep undisturbed till morning and get up energised sometimes before the alarm has even gone off!!! emoticon

I haven't weighed myself yet (the scales broke when the other half dropped them) but i'm sure i have lost a few pounds. I certainly feel slimmer!!

All i can say is WOW!! And thank you spark! I feel healthier, happier and wonderful. I can't wait for the next week!! emoticon

    Opalmommyfirst, i'm the same! I love a glass or two (or three) once the little one's in bed. I'm trying to cut it down to just weekends now and delaying that first drink in the hope i won't drink as much!!

    So glad you are feeling better and I am sure you are already looking better.

    Re: alcohol, I can totally relate to that. Red wine is a real weakness for me after the kids go to sleep for the night but over the course of 3 hours before bed it is amazin how much I can consume as I slowly sip. That, coupled with the late night munchies, have helped me gain 10 lbs back that I had previously lost so I know I can't continue on the way I have been. What works for me is I reward myself a dollar or two each night I DON'T have the wine and I am saving up for a heart rate monitor. Maybe you could give yourself a reward too.
