A Kid At Heart

Monday, April 25, 2011

I hope all my Spark Friends had a Blessed, meaningful Easter holiday. It is so awesome to know we can have victory over all things through CHRIST.

I started the day off by taking my mom to the cemetary where we planted a daffodil plant for my dad and lit the eternal candle.

Next stop was my sister's house with 20 family members. Of course the first thing on the agenda was to eat - lots of fresh vegetables to go with the ham and I am pleased to be able to blog - no chips and dips this year, but a platter of grapes and strawberries.

Thank goodness the weather cooperated with only a few rain showers throughout the day which did not interupt the kids outdoor activities, which included all the kids using the jump ropes I had put in their Easter beach pails. I did get my jump rope time in, in fact my SIL even gave it a try.

I sure did get lots of fitness activity in including chasing my 2 year old great niece around the yard, going down the slide with her, and attempting to climb a tree. As her dad and I were walking I happened to mention that I couldn't keep up like I used to and how much I enjoyed watching them play with their own children as I used to do with them - My nephew was quick to remind me I was still a kid at heart, thus the title of this blog.

Here is my SIL jumproping

Having family events is such fun. Our family no longer does much of that since all of our 'kids' have grown up, and we have no little ones. It looks like your SIL is doing pretty good at that jump roping...LOL. Have a BLESSED Day!

Praise be to your opening sentence!!!

Sounds like you did exceedingly well with the foods, and then worked off anything that might have stuck around. lol Being a kid at heart has always appealed to me. I'm still a kid...don't know what I want to be when I 'grow up'. LOL

Have a wonderful week! Keep that kid heart going.

I loved your bog so much I decided to tell you how my day went.
Got up late rushed around getting ready for church and then getting my granddaughter ready. I had no breakfast just a bottle of glucerna chocolate shake and had no time for Brianna to have breakfast so she had a sippy cup of Chocolate milk a replacement for food for picky eating Children. She took hers with her.
When we reached the church not expecting very many there, was I surprised, when I had to park over the hill and walk to the church. The seats were all taken except for the next to last roll; I usually don't set way back there, but I had no choice. The guy behind us was the man in charge of the easter egg hunt and Brianna spotted those colored eggs right away and helped herself to one.
Brianna then got away from me again and she stood in the isle singing with the special singer. As I tried to shush her she just got louder so I decided to let her stand there and sing her harts content. A few people looked back at her and smiled the singer were about to loose it you could tell that they were just minutes away from busting into laughter. When the oldest of the singers came to get his set he rubbed Brianna's head.
I finally got her settled down and back on my lap, but she wiggled around and slide down again. This time she was off to visit the preacher she crawled right up in the pull pit and got the preacher by the pants leg he just keep right on preaching as if he didn't know she was there. I moved over and got her attention and motioned for her to come to me and I got another surprise she did. I got her back on my lap and she squirmed and wiggled until I lost control again and she was back vitising the preacher again and I guess she was preaching with him this time you couldn't understand a word but she was doing everything the preacher did. I motioned again but that didn't work she spotted a tissue box someone had brought in and went for that I knew she would empty the box before she quit so I ran up and got her again, set the box out of her reach and went back to our seat.
She started squirming and a guy that calls himself Papaw Ray to her tried to get her to come to him and when I let loose she headed right back to the front again this time she came back with a chocolate rabbit. I picked her up and the rabbit and carried them to the front and put the rabbit back. I told her she was being a mean little girl and slapped her leg that didn't even faze her I had to do it again a little bit harder the people in front of us looked back at me with a disapproving looks on their faces. Brianna settled down, I was totally worn out by the time church was out and then there was the egg hunt papaw Ray and his daughter started showing her eggs and she wouldn't even touch them until they gave them to her and after a while someone gave her a bag to put her eggs in but she wasn't going to turn them loose. until she found out that papaw Ray was putting the others in her bag then she was ok with it and she finally spotted three eggs laying in a row on top of the grass she started hollowing and pointing papaw Ray said I'm getting them for you she just hollowed and pointed at the eggs until he went after them. she claimed into papaw Rays arms and let him carry her to the car. I was defiantly needing a nap; but my son had said they were coming up for dinner so I stopped at Kroger and got one of those roasted chicken and brianna spotted some blooms I went to get her one and thank god the lady gave her a red bloom with kroger on it so I didn't have to pay for one that properly wouldn't last until we got home.
At home hubby says I hungry so I put a couple potatoes in the mick and pulled off a leg of that chicken and gave him that. I got my nap and so did Brianna but our visitors called off they were sick.
I cleaned up the floor and gave it a quick mop while brianna was still napping moped myself into the bed room and laid down again just got settled when I thought I heard something about that time I heard someone call Alice , Smokey, so I went to the door and I had company anyway my nephew and his wife and her son had dropped by. Thanks to god again they had been at his moms for dinner and they weren't hungry. So we just set there and talked and got caught up again it had been well over a year since I had seen them.
After they left brianna whinnied and cried around until bed time what a day and I was bushed.
Guess what? I was the one that couldn't sleep last night!!
and I am proud of myself I ate only 3 peps. I drank 4 glasses of water by the time it was time to get up this morning. This old woman is still feeling The Easter Cheer.
Any one know why we have three joints in our finger, legs and arms? Not the sincetific answer the bible answer. With all that going on I did learn something at church that I had just took for granted. emoticon
