Confession and Motivation

Tuesday, May 03, 2011

I have a great big confession to make. I've been in a downward spiral for about two months now; just plain living in the land of denial. Pretending things are great when they've been just spiraling out of control for some time now. Had a series of disappointing things happen in my personal life that just sent me to a really dark place and I just lost interest in everything. I stopped doing a lot of things and working on me was one of the things that I just gave up on and now at this point in my life I am struggling to get back all the ground I've lost. I had a Dr's Appointment today and I was told that I am no longer borderline diabetic; I have full fledged type 2 diabetes and would have to take medications to try and control it. Man, I could just kick myself for just pretending that I was ok, that I hadn't gained weight. I've tried now for several weeks to get back into the grove of exercising regularly and eating better. It just made me sick that I have allowed myself to move backwards instead of maintaining or moving forward with my diet and exercise goals. After leaving the Dr's office I wondered Why! Why! Why! But...I knew the answer and I knew better. I've had such great information, support and all the tools necessary for success and yet here I sit feeling like a complete failure. So now I'm starting over again; now I desperately need to focus , set priorities, find and rely on a support system, make myself accountable, and have some patience; this did not happen over night and It won't go away overnight. I know I can do this, I've done it before. . I know that Diabetes can be managed but....Diabetes definitely is a great motivator emoticon

Fighting depression is a hard thing, I know. I am in a rut lately too! I try, or should I say, I FORCE myself to exercise in some way daily! Usually, once I get started I feel better!
There is nothing like working up a good sweat to get all those ugly toxins out of your body. I don't know you, or your ability to work out, but just TRY to PUSH yourself DAILY to do a minimum of 10 min. of exercise. AND give it YOUR ALL! You will feel better mentally and physically for it! AND in time, you will be hearing the opposite from your Doc. emoticon emoticon I have seen it done many a time on The Biggest Loser!
I am here for you too, if you would like to reach out to me for support! emoticon

You have made the first & most important step - admitting there is a problem. Now you can start fresh.

Although you sliipped, I don't think you should be down on yourself. Forgive yourself - God forgives us when we admit our sins.

I agree that you can do this

I am sorry your wake up call came in the form of health issues, but you now have an additional reason to take care of yourself. You have done the tough work before. Now you need to get the knowledge you possess into healthy habits.

Best wishes for a very successful turn-around!

You have to tap into God. The power and victory are there. Commit your daily habits to the Lord. Ask Him daily for the strength and power to become healthy. He is there waiting for us to gain the victory through him.

I'm sorry for your rough spell. But you can come out of it. Just do a little bit of exercise at a time, even if it's only 10 minutes at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself or put too much pressure on yourself. Take one day at a time and add a little bit more as you get comfortable in a routine. Same plan with eating. You can do it!
