Day 1 - My goals

I joined SparkPeople last night so today is my first official full day. Just this morning I was visiting with my daughter who told me she is trying to get in shape for a Susan G. Komen 5k race in September. The light bulb went off in my head and I decided that I WILL do it with her. It just so happens that yesterday I did the first day of the C25K program. I'm thinking there was a higher power that might have plans for me? This may not seem like a big goal for some people, but I have never been able to run, not even when I was younger, skinny and halfway fit. I tried the C25K program last fall but only made it to the end of week 2 before shin splints sidelined me and got me discouraged. I will take it slower this time and make it happen. I'm doing other workouts also to keep things varied and mixed up a little.
Of course there is my goal to lose weight also. I need to lose 80 lbs. A year from now I want to be able to look back on these blogs and smile as I remember writing them and know that I have taken control of my life.
