Mother's Day and rest (?) days

This morning my girls and I were invited to breakfast at my brother's house after church. I was told they were serving biscuits and gravy and cinnamon rolls. I immediately offered to bring fresh fruit. I thought about eating some of my normal peanut butter toast before church so that I wouldn't be very hungry and would be able to pass on the unhealthy things. Then I thought, no I'll be ok. So.......we get there after church and my sister-in-law is just starting to make the sausage, gravy and biscuits. I was already getting hungry and now I was gonna have to wait longer and still maintain control????? "Breakfast" was not served until after 11:00 and by then my defenses were totally shot. Needless to say, I was NOT good.

I've been suffering from a cold all week and not getting more than a few hours of sleep each night. My lack of sleep caught up with me and I crashed for 6 hours this afternoon. I almost wrote off the whole day as a "rest" day but I didn't. Before it got dark I got out and took a walk that ended up being almost an hour.

I came home and had some cantaloupe for a refreshing pick me up.

I could look back on today and think I was a total failure but I'm not going to do that. My bad meal taught me a valuable lesson about planning and I feel somewhat redeemed with my walk. I've been pushing my workouts hard all week so I'm gonna call this leisurely walk my rest day. No more excuses to do nothing!!! No matter what the scale may say tomorrow morning, I will consider today a success :)

    I think you did terrific. For one thing, you learned something about yourself and know what you need to do to make better choices next time around. Even with that, you did not let this turn into an excuse to contine the downward spiral into giving up on the whole day. emoticon

    ohhhh. I would be in the same boat as you.... What can you dod. Who doesn't love biscuits and gravy. It is ok to eat these foods, as long as we don't over to it, take a walk and choose fruits and veggies the rest of the day. I mean really... it is life!!! emoticon

    Just looked at my picture close. I know exercising isn't always pretty but in my defense the Kansas wind was blowing really hard from behind me.
