Celebrating My Mom

I couldn't get on to make this blog post yesterday as company arrived throughout the day to visit my mom.

My mom is the best and what makes her even more special is that she is still here at the age of 82. I can see so many of her mannerisms in me, our thoughts often connect without the need to speak audibly, and her laugh is something I want to carry with me each day I live.

Her life has been dedicated to raising her kids, grandchildren, and now great grandchildren. She did the best she could and always wanting for us more than she ever had, often going without. Life was not perfect all the time but somehow looking back at days gone by I see her as the perfect mom now.

Honor your mom's now. If you no longer have your mom's with you - keep her memory close at heart, treasure each day for we are not guarenteed the number of our days. Memories we can cherish forever.

    Love my mom and spending time with her. Feel the same way as you about how special it is to have a Mom to love us and our family and to demonstrate qualities that we want to emulate. Glad you get to spend so much time with your Mom and have the opportunity to serve her and care for her as she has done for you for years!!!     How fortunate you are to still have your mom with you, and that you recognize how wonderful she is while she's still with you. I miss my mom a lot! The older I get, the more ways I see that I am like her, and am getting more and more understanding of things I was sometimes impatient with.

    THAT Was A BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE To YOUR MOM! I LOVED IT!

    I HAVE A VERY SPECIAL MOM MYSELF SHE'S ALMOST 91 And A Half, And Still Going Pretty Strong. She Still Plays Golf About Once A Week And Plays Bridge About 3 Or More Days A Week. She Taught Me And My Younger Sister And Brother Good Values To Go By To Help Us Through Our Lives. She Has 6 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren. I Think That A Big Part Of What Keep Her Feeling Young!

    What a sweet woman and I see you take after her. I go on vacation with my mom and stepdad every year and I know that soon these times will be over and vacations will never be the same and so will life. It will be terrible to go through. I cherish every minute I can get with them and feel blessed to have had them in my life. Now its a whole different story with my dad, I never shed a tear when he died but that is life as it was. Great blog.

    What a beautiful blog. Your mother is a special lady. Your mother raised a very special person and that is you, It takes a lot time and love to take care of a parent and I want to congratulate you for being so caring.

    The memories of my mother go back to 1993, when I came to Florida to get her out of the hospital and back to her home.
    During that time, for the most part, she was not in the now. At times in the 1920's 30's and 40's. Interestingly, she knew who my dad and I were. I learned so much about her early life and wish I had recorded it. She passed away that year and I stayed to be with my dad and than took care of him until he passed away in 2006 at the age of 102.
    We never know how long we will be blessed with our parents and need to make it the best time of our lives.

    My mom has been gone since January 22, 1998, and I miss her very much, Mom didn't talk much about the past until she was in her 90s then it seamed that she wanted to go back and relive those days. Sometimes she thought I was her baby sister, but that was ok at first I would try to bring her back to the present but then I just started agreeing with her on some things such as the time she told me that dad shouldn't have whipped her because I had feel out of a tree and broke my leg. We had went through this one several times I hadn't fell out of a tree and broke my leg but I could see she thought I was her sister Martha and I just agreed with her and said no he shouldn't have whipped you I was the one that had done wrong. You told me not to climb that tree and I did it anyway, it was not your fault. I had heard this story so many times that I knew exactly what to say to put her heart at ease.
    I try to remember the times mom and I set up until almost morning pacing a quilt by hand she had always wanted to piece this one quilt and we did it together the pieced rose quilt I still have it as it was not finished to this day maybe someday I will finish that quilt for mom. I love the memories we shared the last years of her life. I will always remember the last words that she spoke to me just before she died she told me You take such good care of me. I just wish I could had done more to make her last years happy ones. I leave this note saying I did my best and I hope it was enough she had worked so hard raising us kids, we didn't have much and I wore a many dress she made out of those feed sacks we use to pick them out the one we wanted and I know she picked out the pretties ones at the store. We would pick out a dress from sears catalogs and she would look at the picture and make that dress for us.
    So people if you mom is still her give her all the love and respect you can she dervers it and try to make the rest of her life a happy one. A late Happy Mother's day to all you mothers out there.
