Meditation while walking

Saturday, June 04, 2011

I'm back from my now daily walking routine.
Few days ago, I came across an article about meditation and different ways of introducing meditation in your every day activities. I've being practicing Yan Xin Qigong for years now, but never thought about doing it while walking. emoticon Anyway, there was explanations in that article on how to apply meditation techniques to walking, things like focusing on your feet, on the different stage of every step, on the sensation that walking brings to you whole body and so on.
So I did try this morning to stay focus on my feet emoticon
Since I do walk with music in my ear, I found it very difficult to keep the attention on my feet only. But still, I kept on bringing back the focus on my soles, and toes as often as I could.
I can't say that I really saw a difference - it's much too early for that and I wasn't aware more than 10% of the time, but still, I do believe that in the long run, it might changes things for me, making me more aware of the benefit of both concentration and walking daily.

Those are activities I do enjoy a lot. Having music on helps me keep a good pace (I even run a few minutes today emoticon), walking makes me feel good about myself, more in control and active while meditation nurture my soul!

Well, well, well, look at you go! You even RAN for a few minutes today??? OUTSTANDING!! emoticon

I think that just like anything, you may need to give this one a little time to let your mind adjust to what you're training it to focus on - I agree with ya, I think over time you will see benefits from it.

Did I mention that I'm proud of ya for adding the running in your walk this morning?? I'm so proud of ya dear friend! Have a GREAT walk tomorrow (weather permitting) and rest of the weekend! emoticon
