Putting it all together

Now that I am tracking my Curves Weight Management Plan food on Spark People, the past few years of my diet and exercise and me being at the same exact weight now as when I started are beginning to make sense.

My theory is, first of all, I have gained more muscle from working out at Curves. Next, I am not eating right - despite following the Weight Management Plan exactly, preparing foods straight from the book recipes, my body does not respond well to the plan based on studies of post-menopausal women - I am not post-menopausal, I am not eating enough carbs!

This leads to my next point - eating less calories and not enough carbs makes me lose muscle and GAIN fat. The past week is a perfect example of this. Spark People's food tracker has yelled at me each day I track my food: not enough carbs, not enough carbs, not enough carbs. My scale says muscle weight lost: 5 lbs, fat weight gained: 7 My body does not like what I am doing.

Lastly, when I lose that muscle and gain fat, and then switch to a higher calorie plan (phase 3) my body decides it is time to build more muscle (but it doesn't burn the fat - I should exercise more then) and thus I have more weight gain.

My new plan - track food on Spark People and meet the goals here and switch to the Curves Carb plan version instead of the protein version. Let's see how my body takes that! And if I do get up to 2000 calories, I will dance for an extra hour or go for an extra bike ride. That's my new plan.
