See you later, alligator!

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Well, the long wait is almost over. A year ago our younger son proposed marriage and this Saturday is the big day. My two BFFs are flying in from hither & yon to join me in this major event and I can't wait to see them!

Sparkin' is getting hard. My older son is taking me on a surprise day-long adventure tomorrow (to celebrate my recent b'day). I want to make yummy, fattening treats for my company. My nerves and emotions are screaming for chocolate. I awakened at 3 am..watching the calendar fly by and craving sugar.

The vigorous River Fitness class, ST and Zumba class have been shoved aside for "more important" duties....like learning how to apply make up! (my husband is wondering who kidnapped his wife & where the heck is she?) I have to hold a magnifying glass up to the magnifying mirror to find my eyelashes without my glasses! I keep looking for 'my curling iron for my eyelashes"...what's that thing called anyway? We'll have to build on a new bathroom to accommodate my lotions, potions, brushes, pads and goop!

I haven't worn "high" heels in 4-5 years (mine are just under 2" high and they feel like stilts). The new undergarments are choreographed to push up, suck in, cover up and expose in all the right places. All together now, 1-2-3!

So, it's a test of my new lifestyle. With champagne flowing and outrageously delicious tidbits at every step, nerves jangling and eyes blinking back tears....off I ride into the sunset. I'll return a newly minted "mother-in-law." gulp.

I’m a bit late commenting on this but just read it. I hope the event was glorious! Post pics of you all dressed up! Really, there are things in life that have to take precedent and this was definitely one of them.

Congratulations to you and your son. If you have time write us a blog with the details!

All things in moderation. You know that if you over do it, you are not going to feel as well and enjoy this special time as much. So go ahead and indulge in a little bit of whatever you want, savor it, and stop before it is too much.

There is little chance that your son will get married EVERY weekend, so remember that this is a once in a lifetime celebration, and enjoy yourself!

Congratulations! Enjoy yourself...I think everyone overdoes things at an important event like your son's wedding! Then you can hang up your wedding outfit and take down your Zumba outfit and get back on track. There is enough stress for a mom planning a son's wedding without adding a whole other dimension to it! God Bless!

My oldest daughter got married a couple of months ago. I got the dress, heels (first time in over 10 years), "Hope on a Hanger" foundation piece and made sure I enjoyed every minute of it. It was like a fairytale. I refused to allow myself to stress over food or anything else. I ate what I wanted, just kept an eye on volume, etc. I did just fine the entire week-didn't gain an ounce and didn't worry over it. Enjoy this special time for your family.

Life events!!! Enjoy and savor each moment. Your days will return to normal soon enough, but this is a time to savor. Since it sounds like it will be several days long try to indulge in only the most special treats and avoid overindulging in the ordinary. Whenever possible feel your plate, cup...with harmless stuff but do have the plate, cup, etc. Many hugs to you and your friends and family!!!
