Having my brother over

Monday, August 01, 2011

I come from a family of 3 children. Being the oldest, I grew up feeling different from my brother and sister who used to team up together, gaining some bargaining power to win over a "controlling big sister". In my 20's, little sis' and I cleared up the perception distortion between us as she felt neglected by our brother... you know how perception is deceiving.
Nowadays, she feels that maintaining a relationship with me is "too complicated" as our values and views on life kept on getting apart as we got older. Although it's making my sad, I know there's not much I can do about it - except for being patient and stay open if ever she decide to talk to me again.
With my brother, it's much simpler. Since he's living 800 miles from my place, we don't see much of each other but when we do, like the last weekend, it's always fun. He an easygoing guy and his girlfriend is dynamic and fun too.
So... My brother came in Friday night and he's living tonight to see our parents and my sister.
Saturday, we all went for a 50km bike ride along the Chambly Canal. Yesterday, we climbed all the way up to the Mount St-Gregoire (251m altitude) and it was fun!
Today, DH is working, so my brother and I are getting ready for a final excursion together.
I feel privileged to have him over.
We both share the same view about working out and keeping fit as much as we can. We add a nice chat about that over breakfast.
So, I'll see what we're going to do today and I'll keep you posted later on.
Nice Monday to you too emoticon

I can relate to the estangement of family members my friend - Unforutnately, I speak to no one in my "biological" family because of alcoholism and drug addiction - I refuse to enable their behavior, and other family members don't see it the way I do so we don't speak. Yes it is sad and it's shame; however, your life goes on and time doesn't stop - tough lesson to learn, but what's wonderful is the peace, joy and serenity that comes back to you when that lesson is learned.

I pray for the joining of yours and sister's paths someday; until then, I admire you for living your life with truth and love. God Bless you lovey and may you continue to grow and flourish in your journey!

SOOOO glad you are having a wonderful time with your bro! Enjoy whatever excursion you two crazy kids go out and conquer today, and HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!!
