Three Week Sparkversary

I've officially been sparking for three whole weeks, which is longer than I've ever committed to a exercise/eating regime before in my life. How exciting!

Unfortunately, the past five days have seemed to undo all my hard work. The 4lb loss I saw on the scale has entirely come back. It's SO FRUSTRATING. I slip up for a few days and it all disappears again!

I've been reflecting on why I've haven't been doing so hot lately and I think it boils down to not having control over what I'm doing for the day (which won't be an issue once I'm at school) and we haven't been to the grocery store in a while. That makes it hard to make really awesome food. Easily fixable.

Goals for August
1) Successfully transition from summer eating/working out to school eating/working out. This is going to be a difficult transition, to say the least. Balancing sleep, studying, and exercise is a difficult endeavor. I'm going to do what it takes.
2) More strength training. Since my thyroid sabotages my metabolism, it's especially important for me to build muscle so I can burn calories more easily. My current obstacles to successful strength training: I don't have a routine and I don't like "wasting" a work out session "just" doing weights. Once I'm at school and I have access to the full gym, I can do a few minutes on a cardio machine and then my strength training. For the last few days at school, I'll just buck up and do it.
3) Guided morning meditation with iPod. Come September I'll see if I'm ready for solo meditation. One of the biggest hindrances to meditation, for me, is that it's hard to track my progress (if there is any). Maybe this will be a good guideline.
4) Continue daily Spark blogging to keep myself accountable and leave a record of my progress.

Four pretty simple but vague goals. I'm excited to let you guys know my progress!

Also, I talked to my mom about having a mother-daughter weight loss contest. She needs to lose about the same amount I do. I wonder how I should set up the rules and how we could tell we weren't cheating. I'd love to hear suggestions!

    I love your idea of the mother-daughter weight loss contest! My other half is supposed to lose 15-20% of his current weight according to his doctor. After he told me how he told his doc "fat chance" I suggested that he couldn't do it. Next thing I know he's getting on the treadmill! If that's what it takes....
