I've gotten a few messages from people regarding the riots, where we are, etc.
We're good, safe 'n' sound. Our little village is kind of out of the way, off the beaten track, and nothing violent or scary is happening here, thank God.
We are about halfway between Liverpool and Manchester, tho, and what we're hearing from city centers is horrifying. There is some information on the newscasts, but we have a number of friends in both places, and the news from them is worrying.
Himself's older son lives in Manchester, and we think he's coming here today to spend a few nights. None of us is keen on him leaving his apartment untended, but better his life than his belongings. He will have to travel back toward the city for his job, but his employer is on the outskirts and everything there has been quiet, so that should be okay.
I appreciate you taking the time to ask and express your concerns: I'm not sure what you're seeing on American broadcasts, but from here, it 'feels' pretty bad. Not locally, but certainly nationally - the tenor of the moment is anxious, tense, stressed.
We won't be taking a wander today after all, cities, towns, rural countryside, or anywhere else. Right now, no travel seems safer than travel, and with at least one of the kids poised to come by, we'll just sit tight.
Please keep the UK in your thoughts and prayers - there are a lot of people in rough shape this morning, and things may get worse before they get better.
