Most Shocking Advice I've EVER received!

Thursday, August 11, 2011

A few days ago, my long-time SP buddy, Crazygymgirl read my whiny friend feed. I was belly-achin' about "how I was talkin' tough but couldn't get back on track." (I was sneakin' chocolate, not exercising, not weighing, eating meatball subs---just blob-o)

She gave me this jolting advice and I quote:

"Give yourself a break for a minute... ok now get back on that wagon!"

After the first phrase, I physically felt myself sigh, relax and think, "Finally...some sympathy!" Then I read the second phrase............ ahhhh, Reality speaks.

Crazygymgal, I followed your advice today....ate right (even rejected the mini candy bar from dh) , exercised hard and frequently and I feel better than I have in 3 weeks. Thanks, pal! I owe you BIG TIME! Tell it like it IS!

    So true!
.......I've had a cough/cold for 10 days...and I turned to toast and other comfort foods during these times.
....Ouch! It's so hard sometimes to get back on track with the salads, and gym hours!

So. here's to both of us! ...back on track!
    We Can Do It!!

Ah yes, we spend so much of our time living in the moment, but that is dangerous when it comes to food. When I am faced with the choice to eat inappropriately, I have this mental debate: Eat it and I will feel immediately good, but the last time I did that sort of thing I felt lousy afterwards, and I do love the feeling of thinness and I have an image of skinny jeans that will be delayed if I eat it.... Sometimes it is so much work I just walk away. Glad you are taking good care of yourself. No one else can do it for you!

Obviously your friend was right. When I hit my forties, one phrase I used often when I "messed up" is "I forgive myself." It freed me from the guilt and let me concentrate on what to do next.

You kill more flies with honey than vinegar.
Rocky yourself in the cradle of lovingkindness.
    Forgive and move on.
    Look always forward, never behind.

    Truer words were never spoken!

I did a similar whine a couple of weeks ago and finally came to the conclusion, "enough of this foolishness, just start doing your thing, right now". Today is my 3rd day, and I also feel great. Simple as flipping a switch, wasn't it?

Awesome advice!! That is awesome that you took it and did something with it as well. Advice don't work unless the person getting it takes advantage of it. You are going to be so successful! Congrats!
