It's officially been 4 months for me here on Spark and the going is very slow!!! As of this morning I'm down 21 lbs. I have worked my butt off and had really hoped to see better results than 5 lbs per month. But then I put that 5 lb average into perspective. Over a 1 year time frame that will add up to 60 lbs. And I will take that!!!!

Here's the numbers:

Start - Now
Weight 240 - 219
Waist 42 - 39.5
Hips 50 - 47
Thigh 29.5 - 27.5
Calf 18 - 18
Bicep 16 - 15
Neck 16 - 14.5

I like to see numbers side by side and this is the first time I've done it with my measurements. I guess they look better than I thought they did. I don't have much hope of my calves ever getting much smaller. They've always been very muscular and even when I was skinny I had trouble with fitting into cowboy boots, so that does not surprise me a whole lot. I'm anxious for my waist and hips to go down a little more. Even after losing 21 lbs, there's only one pair of smaller jeans I've been able to fit into. But I am really glad to see my neck measurement go down. I've always felt like I have a football player neck and I could do without that!

These are boring statistics, I know, but it did help put things in perspective for me :)

    I totally understand the calf thing, as mine are large, too. Oh well, huh? emoticon

    It looks to me like you are doing great! 5 pounds/month is really very good. i like using more measurements than weight as an indicator. The numbers look really good! emoticon emoticon

    Not boring to me! Thanks for sharing, and I'm right there with you on the neck issue.

    Remember too that the way you've been working out will have you gaining plenty of muscle, so don't be discouraged about the pants thing - it will come. You're doing GREAT!! emoticon

    I've lost about 5 pounds per month too and I am STOKED! LOL after several years of watching the scale go (albeit slowly) UP, it's a real thrill to watch it go DOWN, even if maybe it's not as quick as some other people maybe, I'm pumped for both of us!

    Big man calves are something some of us have to live with... I always figure, better big man calves than some other things... hahaha.

    I think 5 pounds a month is FANTASTIC!!! Generlly, people who lose weight at about your pace are more likely to keep it off compared with people who lose it really fast. You are making small changes you can live with forever and that's what it takes to stay fit and of proper size.

    I hear you on the calves. Mine feel HUGE compared to some people. But they serve me well as they allow me to run and walk far further than many of my slender legged friends. So I appreciate what they allow me to do even if those skinny legged jeans look rather odd on me.
