Have you ever noticed how everything around us pushes us to eat? And not just to eat, but to eat processed, fat, salty, sweet, bad things? Take a day to just notice all of the inducements to eat that we are surrounded with every day. Is it any wonder that we are obese?
I went to the grocery store tonight. Everybody has to do it sometimes, right? I have been trying to get by as much as possible with the co-op and the Farmer's Market, but that won't always be enough. Today, it was the grocery store.
I was hungry when I went, too. Bad thing to do. But I'm very proud of myself; I resisted temptation! I saw a lot of things that I really wanted to buy and eat. Two years ago, there would have been no resisting--I would have bought them all, and probably eaten most of them tonight. I saw cookie dough, I saw ice cream, I saw cookie dough ice cream (LOL), I saw jalapeno poppers, I saw coffee cake and corn dogs. I saw them all, but I did not buy any of them.
On the way home from the grocery store, I saw Panda Express, and Culvers, and Sonic, and Applebees. I drove by them all.
I'm not saying I ate all that great when I got home, but I ate better than any of that. I resisted, and that's what counts, right?
