My bike and I went for a ride.......in the car!

Thursday, September 08, 2011

Last night, my magnifying glass & I did heavy duty research evaluating the huge bike map of the "city." I was planning a wondrous bike ride all by myself (yay!) after my dr.'s appt and I was jumping out of my skin with anticipation. Loaded the bike in the car for the 100 mile drive to the city...along with my bike clothes, HRM, lots of water...oh, boy, oh, boy, oh, boy! Leaving at 6:30 a.m. and couldn't sleep past 4:30 a.m. (tears awakened me...a dear, younger friend and spectacular gift to the world passed away this week...and my mind and heart can't believe it. I need to LIVE every single day....every single hour!)

It's pouring rain. Maybe when I get over the mtn the weather forecast will be true. Nope.... it poured rain all day. But it's OK; this time I took my bike for a ride instead of the bike taking me for a ride. And I have a great trip mapped out for next time. I can hardly wait!

Treasure every hour of life.....life is as fragile as fine china! Live it!

Loved how you took your bike for a ride in the car! Cute! Hope you get to do that ride in the near future. You can have time to think about how good a life your dear friend had and I am sure she would be proud of you for doing that ride! emoticon

So very sorry to hear about your friend, Nancy. You are right, life is so fragile sometimes and every moment is precious. Hugs hugs hugs!

I totally understand about your ride -- the weather is one issue I've been fighting all summer this year. Here's hoping we have better riding weather in 2012!

More hugs for you emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

"Joy and sorrow are sisters." Sorrow often inspires us to embrace more joy, doesn't it? I am truly sorry to read about your loss.

I came to your page to thank you for the comments you left on my "tiny & skinny" blog. Your advice was something I really needed to hear and I will be remembering it. As far as the dumbbells, I do that quite often (I S.T. 3x per wk). I pick up 30+ lbs of dumbbells and remind myself "this is what I lost, this is what I am NOT carrying around with me", so now, based on your wise counsel, I will pick up 20 lbs worth of dumbbells and carry them around for a few minutes, really sensing what it will be let to set down the rest of this needless burden. emoticon emoticon

Thanks for sharing both joy and sorrow. I, too, have gotten rained out four days in a row after shipping my bike from FL to NY...but I am alive and I have the desire to ride...more than half the battle!

Your words are so simple, but so powerful! We only have this life, at this time. Days will pass... happily or not, they will pass. You don't let things get to you. You experience them and get on with your life. You see the good and the positive in all things.

I am trying to be that way too. You are the role model! I hope you take that ride soon. Enjoy.

The rain was a bummer, no? If you ever want to load up that bike and come to Fort Collins for a ride, let me know! Would love to share a good ride with you.

Oh, Columbine2, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend--that's a tough one. So glad though that you've got your route all mapped out and you're ready to do that bike ride. It's going to be exhilarating! emoticon emoticon

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend and even the rain. It is important to treasure each day. One of the reasons I struggle with getting enough sleep is because I'm trying to cram so much into each day lol! Hugs to you Nancy. Have you thought of perhaps memorializing your friend with a donation to an organization she would support, or planting a beautiful plant...

Enjoy your ride when you get to it.
I also lost a friend this past week. I found that getting out and walking/running helped me.
