The Flood of 2011 – Pictures included

It is a bit disheartening how much devastation the world is going through. I usually try to look on the bright side, today is a bit somber though. Our area is once again on the National news because of severe flooding. We had a similar flood in 2006, but this one has surpassed that one. This year there are evacuations from areas that were not even affected in 2006. For all those people who lost everything and then rebuilt my heart goes out to them.
I have a boat garden in my yard – it is a real row boat filled with dirt and planted with flowers. This is the boat last year…
And this is my boat garden today…
I at least was able to walk the dog although we had to take a different route because of the flooding. Here is the road I use to walk her down…
Instead we walked along the road I live on and the name should tell you something, River Rd. And yes one of the rivers in our area is not far from it. Here is picture of the golf course that runs along Chenango River…
And this is the building along the golf course…
And one of my favorite sounds in the area is the trains that run along the hill which is behind my house and across from our local highway. That highway is closed from a mud slide and parts of the tracks are hanging off the side of the hill…
When I took my walk earlier I walked across a bridge that goes over that highway and it was surreal to have no vehicles on it. I felt like I was a part of a Stephen King book.
On a positive side - we had several family members and friends call us today - we are loved!
