What a week!!

Sunday, September 11, 2011

We continued to be deluged with rain all week. What a mess--like many others up and down the east coast. My daughter's basement has a recent history of flooding and although they have taken every measure they possibly could, by Wednesday night she was a nervous wreck worrying about water in the basement. I'm talking 6-12 inches of water. They had hauled everything up from the basement (again); sump pumps were beeping (meaning they were full) and the LARGE sump pump was gushing water out. She decided she was bringing the kids down here---
We had a good time. As usual, I'm exhausted but at least my daughter got out from under that stress. As it turns out, the new system worked great and they had NO water in their basement!!!! YAY!!! That is especially good news since my son in law just received a promotion he had wanted. They will be moving back to VA very close to us!!! DOUBLE YAY!!! They hope to be here by the first of the year but, boy, do they have a lot to get done by then!!! I'm heading up there tomorrow and will be gone a week. Daughter is having some vein "surgeries" and I will be there to help if needed. It's 3 separate procedures over the course of the week. She is fairly stressed about it but I don't think it's that big of a deal anymore.
So, my life is in turmoil once again. I'm sure we will be needed for babysitting, cleaning, etc. services to get them moved. It will be nice to have them so close so we can eliminate the trips back and forth and they won't have to stay the entire weekend when they come to visit! emoticon
So the tracking has been sparse and, although formal exercise didn't happen, I'm sure I expended quite a few calories with the 4 year old and 19 month old!!!!!!!

How great they are moving back closer to you! I was so happy when my Mom moved back to VA. She's till 2.5 hours away, but it's a lot better than the 6.5 it was! Glad everything stayed dry. The flooding was incredibly sad and devastating to a lot of people.

It is so cool that they will be moving back near you! And a relief that their house didn't flood. At least you will be busy in a fun way with the little ones as opposed to being busy in an unfun way like I am. LOL. I hope your daughter has a speedy recovery!!

Oh how happy you must be. If it were anyone else I would say jealous. I am happy for you.

When they are those ages they are just so amazing. learning so rapidly in such a short time. Our NY grandkids are past the easy to please stages but happily they both love to learn from me.
I do of course realise at 13 and 11 there will not be too much time to be able to happily interact. Right now they listen to me and we talk a lot but I can see the writing on the wall. Grammy does not understand why I need this other game, this other app, etc, I will be left behind but I will have my happy memories and some day they will be able to say, "MY Grandmother told me -----------!"
