Breaking a Barrier

My back was "pretty good" yesterday and I got a text from the barn owner about a trail ride. It was time.
When I left for the barn it was bright and sunny. Almost to the highway, the sky ahead turned dark (should I turn around? That laundry left on the line...). I drove on. On the highway there was a torrential rain, thunderstorm (cars pulling over). When I got to the exit the sky was clearing.
At the turn to the barn, the road was blocked by a fire truck and an ambulance (lights off) was pulling away. Went around the back way and the front drive to the barn was blocked by police. Cut through a side street to see an empty police car strangely parked on the side of the road. When I got to turn to the back entrance, a police car was leaving that road, with the officer talking on the phone.
Pressing on, odd barking dogs in the woods.
Everyone at the barn was ok, apparently a drunk hit the bridge and ran into the woods.
The horses were filthy- a nice sandy roll must be the post T-storm routine - it continued to threaten rain, sprinkle, and at one point I offered my horse to another rider .
Still, the ride happened (the first one for me in a very long time) and it was good.
When we got back to the barn, there was a rainbow.
Crazy what we have to go through to get what we want !!!!
