quick note on a great ending

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

A quick word as I run off to start my day.
I've decided to keep all my food log entered in a small notebook which I'll maintain throughout the day..then the next morning, I will add all of the PRIOR day' data into TODAY'S tracker....So in case you're checking up on me and you wonder how, by 6:00 AM I could possibly have already eaten three meals...Well , they really were eaten yesterday. I didn't enter them into yesterday's date today because when you add data to day's past, you do not get Spark points for them. AND yeah, dude! I already spun the Spark Bonus Wheel at 5:50 AM! cool, huh?

And the saying is true: "The best laid plans of mice and men, often go awry." Well., my day yesterday, despite having goals carefully laid out, took a turn south as I got "invited' out to lunch by two friends. ACTUALLY, i said "NO" to the invite...and was told in no uncertain terms that I was going , like it or not. So I went. I remained true to my food plan guidelines and am pleased to say that , quite accidentally, simply by eating rigth I made my dietary goals for ALL FIVE CATEGORIES yesterday!

Here are my percentages:

Fats 25.6%
Carbohydrates 56.1%
Proteins 18.3%

YEAH! That was accidental....happened just by making good choices.

Today will be harder. I have an MD appointment in NY so food will be "on the fly"...and I don't have anything in the house with which to make something healthy...so I"ll have to do the best I can with what I find as we are out.

I also bought for my Kindle : the Eat-Clean Diet by Tosca Reno (the book that began the whole clean eating movement) and the accompanying cookbook: The Eat-Clean Cookbook

Maybe today I'll have a moment or two to read them a bit.
Not a bad start.
AND, I just weighed myself. Yesterday's shockingly high weight must have been fluid or a fluke because today I weighed at least 5 pounds less.

Whew. Scared myself there.

You have to do what works for you. Eating out is one of my biggest hurdles - fortunately more and more places post their calorie counts. Tracking food - in a notebook or on SP - is key for me.

Great job! I doubt I've ever met my goals in all categories. And while eating out too. Amazing! Keep up the good work.

Track a day late if you must but it only gives you points. The tool won't help you. You are depending on your skill at healthy choices before the fact. And if anybody can do it...you can.

There's a wonderful recipe for Sweet Potato Fries in the Eat Clean cookbook that you should check out. Good for you making good choices on the fly. I'm sure that you will do fine again today.

    Take care.

There you go! Weight fluctuates far too much to rely on a single day's weigh in!
I have to admit I don't understand why you are tracking a day late. That rather defeats the whole purpose of the Nutrition Tracker. If you enter your day's breakfast and lunch, that will allow you to make up nutrients or calories as needed in your dinner meal. Tracking after every meal means there is no excuse at all for going over or under much of anything..For me I really need to see what adds up for me after my meals. This allows me to have variety, but make sure I stay in my ranges. Being on maintenance is like being on a tight rope. Its so easy to relax and take a misstep. And those missteps can add up quickly.
Well done for making such good selections at the restaurant you made all you goals!! I know that is one bad area of mine, good thing I rarely eat out..
    Keep up the good work!!
