Self Inspiration & Victory

SP's thought for today prompted me to write about how I have usually inspired myself into reaching for goals greater than I ever expected to accomplish. I have accomplished this through self victory!
Competing against others is a naturally healthy thing to accomplish from time to time. I grew up participating in sports all my life and as a young woman growing up in the 60s, it was not always an easy task. Women weren't recognized, as young men were, for their athletic abilities. Therefore, my goal was to improve upon myself and the God-given talents I had been blessed with.
Each time I would practice my skills I wasn't thinking about how I could become better than Mary or Jane or Susie, but rather beating MY score, MY time, or improving MY own skills. I wanted to be the best I could be and not what someone else was.
My dad was my biggest fan and he believed in me. This became my biggest motivation for constantly striving to be a better person in the athletic arena which later spilled over into my life as an adult.
Today I am still striving toward that goal by being the healthiest grandma, mother, and wife I can be and with the help of SP I will accomplish this goal.
