What happened?

Ok -- so last summer I was actually seeing 163 on the scale. Granted, it wasn't consistently staying there, more like 165 was what I would see day-to-day. So what happened that I jumped back up to the 190s? All those good habits that I had learned, exercising, eating properly, just went down the drain.

I started back sliding a little last summer due to other things taking up my time. Once those projects were finished, I realized I had gained a little weight back, but more importantly I was slacking on my exercise. I was still eating healthy, portions were just a little too large and too many sweets. And I just couldn't seem to find the time to use the Spark People website.

Things kind of stayed about the same until close to the holidays. Then everything went south. No exercise. Not eathing healthy at all -- lots of junk food. I didn't feel good and the weight really started coming back. I was in a downward spiral. But I kept telling myself it wasn't that much and it wouldn't be hard to take it back off. Then I saw that I was closing in on 200 again. I couldn't believe it. I swore I would never be that heavy again and here I was knocking on the door.

Come January I tried to rededicate myself to Spark People. About mid-February I managed to start making time for the program. It hasn't been nearly as easy this go around as when I first started Spark People back in 2005, but I'm slowly making progress. I'm on the site more and have reconnected with old friends. This has really helped me to stay motivated. I've also started the First Place Bible Study with a dear friend and this is helping me to keep my focus.

So, this is the beginning of my second journey in weight loss. Let's see if this time next year I can say "Let me tell you how I achieved my goal".

    I'm Debbie and new within the last week or so to Christian living Spark team. What is your ist placeBible study you mention on your blog? I am an RN, doing homecare for an agency in Manchester, Nh. I am a mother of 3 and the 4th is my stepdaughter, who is married and presently I only have my 18 yr. old son living at home, finishing his senior year at MZCS. My daughter Lindsey is my middle daughter and she was the 1st to get married in 2005. She is expecting a baby in July--around the 14th. She lives in Wi. My eldest is Bethany, who is living in L.A. Her wedding is on St. Patty's Day--so next week we'll all be flying out there. She is expecting our ist grandchild in May. That is a long heartbreaking story,one that needs daily prayer. God is in control. I am definitely not and letting go has been the hardest, most painful on going thing in my life. Which leads to me neglecting me. Since last Sept. I have not been excercising with Curves--I quit due to $ concerns and not being able to schedule time to go . I went to a health clinic for GE, where I was a health consultant and actually used my blood in one of the machines that tested CHOL and mine was 249---my bmi was 31.7 and waist was 41". My wgt was 206.2 and I'm 5'7.5". I am bigger than I've been any time in my life. I started reading Bob Green"s book The Best LIfe Diet and joined for 4 weeks on-line when I discovered Sparkpeople, the 2nd week. I just got refunded today. This seems much betterand it is free! I need to log my food but I'm having trouble because all my food is different from the menu's. Searching the website is timely but I am doing it and have the time right now since my client has a chronic disease and isn't sick right now. Please ---any helpful info and accountability would be greatly appreciated right now. So far I've copied lots of recipes, excercises, and joined3-4 sparkteams that I really don't how to contact individuals. I'm getting overwhelmed with 94 e-mails. And I didleave one group- 25-50lb weight loss. I do love gardening,dogs, I am a pastor's wife of a struggling little church in So. NH, and like i said previously am an RN, who is barely recovering from launching her kids, who are all over the country and going through menopause at the same time! I started HRT 4-5 months ago due to the severe hot flashes and night sweats, trouble sleeping, and heart palpitations. IT was sending me over the edge until the HRT started. I don't have a history of breast Ca, or ovarian in my family at all but there is a heavy cadiac history on my dad's side. So after this wedding I am quitting the HRT. Sorry for blabbing all of this.... I'll let you go. I seriously want to stick to a healthier food plan and start excercising and drinking more H20. If I do that and refrain from snacking in the late evening I'm sure I will lose. Excercise has been hard since i work alot of evenings and its winter--I don't have a gym, but I do have a basement and a large house where i can do excercises I see on line. I LIKE DOING THINGSS WITH PEOPLE though. Since you are the team leader i thought you'd be a good resource for me---and you have perserverance to be going through this Spark lifestyle again. How do you get a wgt graph that I see on other's spark pages. I started at 202 and today I'm 199. Debbie
