Enough is enough.....I need to do this without a rut!!!

I didn't even get a chance to blog last week. Just more craziness!!! Daughter, hubby and kids were here again. They did not get the first house they wanted but they did put in an offer on a second home that they really liked (it's just a bit bigger than they wanted) and they got it!!! Yippeeee!! Inspection is Wednesday (we anticipate a few issues so we'll see). They also sold their house in PA last week! Another Yippee!!!! So although they still have quite a road ahead, they are moving and, so far, in a positive direction.
My dad is back in nursing home and the pain is diminishing. They have started some "easy" PT for him. However, since the fall he has been hospitalized twice to have the catheter surgically re-implanted (while medicated he pulled it out---and, yes, he did that 2 times!) He is not as disoriented. Spirits continue to be fairly good and he maintains his sense of humor. Love, love, love that man!!!
Last Friday (14th) I woke up. My left hand fell on my right upper arm. Holy moly!!! FAT!!!! I mean, OK, enough is enough!!! That was committment day for me. Fewer calories and more exercise!! So far, so good. The weight isn't falling away but I am getting a little more energy. I have been doing some walking and a bit of strength training. I slacked a bit this weekend but that's OK. Will be walking tomorrow morning!
I guess this craziness is my new normal for awhile so I need to figure out a way to just work through it. I am a bit disappointed that I don't seem to have lost an ounce this week but that's OK. Baby steps!
Thank you for all your support over the summer and this fall. It means so much to me to have so many people supporting me and caring about me.

    Excellent news about your daughter and family. Any huge change like that is very stressful and complicated, but they (you) have two huge victories this week. Hurray Hurray!!
    I am so relieved to know that you are taking time for yourself. You are so right, baby steps. Remember, we have to treat ourselves at least a well as we would treat our kids with special needs. We break it down into manageable, measurable parts and make sure our small objectives are achievable. Pat yourself on the back for making a great start. You are right, we are all here to support you. You always do the same for us and everyone else in your life. Let us reciprocate.

    I hope things go through with this house. Better too big than too little. LOL. It must be nice to be able to get somewhere and accomplish something. Not something that happens here much. LOL.

    Ouch on your dad's catheter!! I'm glad that he is improving.

    I'm still missing my rut too. Desperate for it. I'm trying but keep sabotaging myself. Hunger is my enemy. I must do better. LOL.

    Beth do the scales as little as possible. Try this!
    If you have a pedometer find your base line walk in steps and note your time. Then over time add 500 steps or 10 more minutes .Make a note of it.
    These things you can read from your body just as easy as when clothes get tight. Tight is easier to recognise-IT HURTS! Loose is comfy so we do not take notice of it. Read your body and I am sure it will help

    Check your clothes fit often and if they are getting loose, make a note of it.
    My wrist watch became very loose and my shoes had to be tightened more often.
    My weight is the same as a year ago but my size 16 needs a belt every time I wear them. Last year I was wearing size 20.

    I had a grey pair of lined wool pants and they were so tight I called them my try-on pants. I tried them on more often than using the scale and it helped me stay focused. Now it is useless to try them on, they fall down and look really bad with a belt. Time to ditch them. I might find a 14 in the outlet store and I will make them my challenge.     Baby steps is OK for now. Just give yourself permission, while you are in your busy and stressful time, to simply take care of yourself as best you can.

    Don't worry about weight loss until you have the time and energy to focus on it. Just focus on taking care of yourself and being healthy, eating well, getting enough sleep, keeping stress at a manageable level.
