Remembrance Day 11/11/11
Friday, November 11, 2011
On this Veterans Day, I'd like to honor the military veterans and those currently serving and thank them for their contributions and sacrifices. Bless those who have given their lives, limbs or peace of mind to benefit their fellow countrymen.
Let's remember also that on this day (which marks the anniversary of the armistice in WWI) it is not just we Americans who are remembering the fine young lives lost to the horrors of war, but that this is the day much of the world sets aside to do the same.
With that in mind, here is a link to a touching song about a young Australian soldier's experience at Sulva Bay in WWI. I'm sure similar tragedies have occurred over and over during different battles in different wars for soldiers of all nationalities.
Let's help honor their memories and their sacrifices by being vigilant that, in the future, we never allow our countries to be led into war for motives of profit, power or prestige which is far too often the case.
