Why am I eating?

On the Dr. Oz show today, something was mentioned that I’d read about before—
that we should pay more attention to how hungry we are when we think of eating. On a scale of 1-10 it goes like this:
/1 /………………………/5 /………………………/7-8/…………….………/10/

1- Not hungry
5- I could eat
7-8-Hungry
10- Ravenous

We should pay attention to our stomachs and eat when we are at about 7 or 8.
Cuts down on mindless eating, or eating just because it occurred to us.

    Since being on the SP eating plan, I find myself HAVING to eat, and I'm almost never hungry. Instead of eating the whole meal at once, I tend to eat it in parts. I snack on grapes for my super sweet tooth. Sometimes instead of eating cheerios with milk or yogurt, I'll "snack" on the cheerios, then drink the milk or eat the yogurt later. When meals call for sweet potato topped with something, I'll generally eat the "something" by itself and later the sweet potato by itself. Eating this way keeps me eating several times throughout the day, and I never feel like I don't have enough food too eat. As i said already, I find myself having to eat just to get it all in for the day.

    Thanks for the info , I´ll try to put it into practice , the problem is that I tend not to think when I´m overeating emoticon

    Its an important point. We're conditioned to eat certain things at certain times. I find myself still having cravings at times, and when I stop to think about it I realize that I am not at all hungry. That's one of the best times for me to pop in a couple of grape tomatos ... no calories to speak of but I fool my psyche!

    Unfortunately I am not there yet.
    When I exercise, I am never hungry.
    When I don't exercise, I am always at a 5-7 sometimes a 9.
    I hope to get better as I get past 200's.
