Doctor's orders to STOP the 30 day Shred... :(

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

All did not go as well as I wanted at the doctor's office today. He sent me right over to the physical therapist too.

I have injured my right knee from over-exercising. I am forbidden to continue the 30 day Shred right now, and he said I could not do the C25K either. NOT YET. My knee needs time to heal, and I have to give it several WEEKS.

I am so mad and so sad! I just want to cry. I'm so afraid of losing my motivation right now! emoticon

The therapist said I could not do any high impact exercises like jumping jacks, rope jumping, lunges, etc. Thank you Jesus, that I CAN still do Zumba! So there is a little silver lining. Just have to make sure I don't do anything high impact. (Like the Andale and Quebradita step) Dang it!

...and, I can only do Zumba for no more than 20 minutes once or twice a day. I can go for a walk on flat surfaces for not longer than 3 kilometers.

Sigh, it's not the end of the world, but it sure does hamper me. My get up and go is going away...

I already changed my fitness and nutrition values so now my caloric intake dropped a few hundred. emoticon

Moving to plan B now... If all goes well then maybe after Christmas I can move up to more training.

It's just a temporary setback, it's just a temporary setback, (chant chant chant) emoticon

Sigh!

Hang in the Kelly. As you said, this is just until your knee heals. You don't want to do any lasting damage.

    Praying for healing.... emoticon

    Good Luck!

There is more silver lining- You now know that slow and steady wins the race. You know that too much of a good thing (exercise in this case) can be a bad thing. and 3, unlike me, you won't need two knee surgeries.

The Goal should be to workout smarter, not harder! That and results are 80% nutrition, 10% genetics, and 10% exercise with strength being more important than cardio. so Nutrition-strength-cardio in that order!

Good luck in PT. I have been in off and on for 3.5 yrs, currently in for a shoulder injury thanks to kettlebells. So I feel ya.

Sorry to hear the bad news, wishing you a speedy recovery! Good news is that it's only temporary. But you are on the right track by modifying your calorie and fitness values to compensate instead of just giving up! WAY TO GO and STAY STRONG, you will get through this!

I am pretty much in the same boat, except I haven't been to the doctor yet. My knee is acting up and I suspect over-training. I have taken out everything high-impact + running from my workouts and that is no fun since I love to run. Here's to hoping that out knees heal up in time.
