2012 Will Be My Year!!

Well - A new year ALREADY??? I cannot believe how quickly time is flying. 2011 will definitely be a year to remember. There were some very low points....and some very high points too. I lost my job of 12 years....and two months later DH husband lost his 0f 14 years. How terrifying is that? Food, clothes and gas just to name a few have skyrocketed to the point of being ridiculous - am I right?
But on the flipside - Our youngest graduated college and went immediately to work. Our son and his wife blessed us with our first granddaughter. And within weeks of each other - DH and I found jobs that we absolutely LOVE!!
Unfortunately - stress and poor decisions also led to significant weight gain. No excuses---I know what I am supposed to eat and how much exercise I should get. I know that in order to be successful I need to remember that this is a lifestyle....and a lifestyle is a habit and it's forever. There was a significant period of time in 2011 that I set all of that knowledge aside!!! Adding insult to injury - I TOTALLY stink at maintaining my weight. I can gain....heck I can lose with the best of you....but I have yet to master maintenance!!
SO - Goal for 2012-- Lose the weight....AGAIN. I gained 18 pounds last year. I am refining my goal weight by a couple pounds and therefore I have decided that 15 pounds is what I need to lose before I attempt maintenance again. That will put me at 125 pounds and since I will soon be turning 49 - it seems a good weight for me.
To accomplish this goal I will do the following:
Join the SP Jumpstart Team - Check that off - it is done!
Follow SP's calorie recommendation specific for me. No more....and No less!!
Exercise twice a day 6 days a week.
Eat a minimum of 5 freggies each day
Drink 8 glasses of water daily
Get 8 hours of sleep on week nights.

If I do these things I should be down to 125 in 4 months at the latest.
That's it...that's my plan. No special pills or diets or magic. Just sensible eating, healthy exercise, common sense and a healthy dose of determination. Well -that and all my SP friends that I know will help me stay accountable!!
I feel so blessed for so many reasons at this point in my life - but one of the best things that has EVER happened to me was finding this website on a quiet August day in 2009!!
Now - who's with me on this part of the journey????

    I have NO doubt you'll lose your weight again, and you'll continue inspiring the rest of us while you do it.

    Wow! Your year DID go up and down! I did not like 2011 at all! I am so glad to close that chapter and have a good 2012! I am so glad you both found great jobs!

    Pam, we are going to make 2012 a year to remember also!!
    I admire your determination and your spirit, and soon, those 15 pounds will be a memory and you will learn to master maintenance..and me..well, I will reach my goal and have my opportunity to experience maintenance!! :)
    This is the time to define our goals and renew our desire to reach them..I'm in!!

    I am so with you! We forget how much stress plays in our lives. I guess it's called
    emotional eating...I call it stress eating...something I never thought I did, but found out I was wrong...imagine that!

    Anyway, you had lots of issues last year, but they are over and done with! You and DH have great jobs and that will certainly help!

    PAM, You've TOTALLY inspired me!!!!! I gained 6#'s over the holidays and I'm 'officially' overweight again! UGH! Only by .2 BUT STILL it's overweight! Okay, my plan is to get back down to 128, losing those 6#'s, and then getting serious about losing another 11#'s and that will put me at 117#'s. I prayed and felt that this was a good weight for me; we will see if I can actually maintain here. I had pretty much maintained 128-130 for the last 8 months, but I REALLY, REALLY need to get RE-motivated!!!!! Thanks for the inspiration!!! I love you much! Susan
