I did it! I did it! I did it!!!

On the last day of June last year I joined Spark People. I decided to go down the weight loss path again and get down to my favorite weight of 130 again. I knew I would need to track my food (I'm a pro at dieting) and when I looked for an ap to track food with on my phone, Spark People showed up so I joined the website. I've become the greatest advocate for Spark People because my weight loss has been pretty visible and I never fail to give us credit.

A couple of months ago one of my Spark buddies recommended I lower my goal weight to 128 so that I can stay in a range of 128-132 and continue to feel accomplished after I reach my goal weight. I never knew what a difference two little lbs could be. I have been able to get to 131 with pretty steady weight loss of a lb or 2 each week since I joined but I got to 131, 8 weeks ago and then the scale needle would not budge. Really strict calorie control and a stepped up fitness plan just would not let me move from 131 .

Then last weekend we had 3 committed dining out dates with friends. Eating out at nice restaurants has always been my down fall. I love appetizers like potato skins with dripping bacon and cheese and deep fried calamari with heavy tartar sauce and heaps of crusty bread with gobs of butter. I also love to order wine with dinner when we eat out. I can control myself by keeping those things out of my house but I fall apart when I eat out so I've been dreading the poor spread of these three restaurant outing s planned for this past weekend. I figured I'd max out my whole weekly calorie allotment three times over this weekend.

Well I guess I learned my Spark lessons pretty well because I was able to avoid drinking any wine, I didn't participate in the appetizer selection discussions and the other folks ordered stuff that I could take or leave and I left it. I put the bread on the other side of the table. And as one of the Spark bloggers suggested I asked the waiter to put half of my meal in a to-go box before I even started eating it. I think I managed to avoid the tragedy I thought would occur and guess what?!?!?

I went to my yoga class and weighed myself afterwards on my fitness club scale as I do every Tuesday. It's a digital scale and when the scale came back with 128.0 I couldn't believe my eyes. I did it! I did it! I did it!!!

I am very well aware that the task of maintaining is just as hard as losing the weight in the first place. But, this time I really feel different. I feel like I have the tools to make it stick this time. I love going to the Spark website every day. I love the articles and blogs and it seems like every day I pick up something that helps me make this a lifestyle change instead of the diet and leaveit that it's always been in the past.
