FAIL! emoticon

I tried to make chicken with feta and spinach (roll-ups.) I didn't make it by the prep. I eat chicken less than once a week and no red meat. I just have trouble stomaching food with veins, ligaments, etc. As I was pounding the breasts, the ligaments and stringy somethings separated from the meat (muscle)- I'm not trying to be gross, just sharing how my brain operates. I had to stop because I was ill. I asked my husband if he wanted to cook the chicken and he looked at the pile of what I called "good meat," ie, the part I was willing to eat and looked at me. He was a bit annoyed because I called him in from mowing the lawn. I figured the neighbors needed a break from the swearing... He said he didn't know what he would cook with the little bit of chicken I deemed edible. ahem, I did not share the recipe because there were no longer breasts to wrap aroung the spinach and feta. That would have given him too much teasing material... so it's trashed. I guess I will stick to nuts, greens, seafood and chicken that doesn't need tenderizing. Too bad I hate tofu.

Maybe you can buy pre-tenderized chicken breasts from the meat counter, instead of packaged ones you have to do yourself? On the other hand you can use the spinach & feta filling inside something else, like eggplant or zucchini roll-ups instead.

I can totally relate. In fact, I hate chicken. Between the prep stuff (how you put it) and just knowing how it comes to be (I grew up with birds), blech. Poultry is so not my thing, which troubles DH because he loves himself some good chicken.
Your description was so well done it made my stomach turn! LOL

    I laughed, I hope you don't mind :)
You know...I cook meat a lot...I don't think I've tenderized more than once or twice...generally I'm not sure it's worth it.
At least you know that you don't like it, so it was a learning experience :)

I can totally relate. I had the same problem in high school. It's how I ended up a vegetarian for a couple of years. If meat bothers you that bad then I would not eat it. I ended up in the hospital when I was a vegetarian due to severe vitamin deficiencies as it was before all the knowledge they have now on how to eat healthy vegetarian. Maybe you should consider it if eating meat becomes too nauseating. I still prefer fish and seafood but I have overcome my aversion to meat. I still take out all the tendons, veins, and fat though.

I know how you feel. I can only buy boneless, skinless chicken breasts. I can't deal with the icky stuff.
