My opinion on "the other" on-line weight loss option

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Been almost a year since I last blogged here. I took a break from SP and tried Weight Watcher's On-line for part of that time. I was curious if having fruits and veggies be "free" would help me to keep on track and also help me consume more fruits and veggies. I guess it did encourage me to consume a bit more, but I have to say that I didn't find the website easy to use at all. The trackers didn't include any of the things that SP already has in its databank. Every time I ate something new, I had to manually enter the nutrition information. It was a total pain. Plus it was not user-friendly or intuitive to me. Maybe it is because I have been with SP for the past two years and am more use to their lay-out, but I really don't think so. All in all, I felt like the SP website was much easier to use, plus the price is definitely right for me! emoticon

Have other people tried other on-line plans? What was your experience/opinion? I would love to hear about it.

never tried ww online but I did go to meetings in person. I felt extremely judged. I was very overweight but since I'm short I carry most of my weight in my belly so my legs and arms look almost normal. They almost denied my entry and said I wasn't heavy enough to join "why do you even want to be with weight watchers?" they asked me.
After that I gave up and gained a LOT more weight to obese levels. Thank goodness for sparkpeople, it saved my life! I love how easy it is to track everything and the warm community is perfect!

I tried Weight Watchers online earlier this year. Although I liked the trackers, and the feedback, I just wasn't motivated, and after my initial membership expired, I decided to come back to Spark People. I like the teams, and the easier interaction with people.

I am also signed up at MyFitnessPal. It's relatively easy to use and similar to SparkPeople (and also free), but I like how SparkPeople has teams so that you can get to know other members better. MFP does have a message board, just no teams. I dunno... I just like SparkPeople better. No real reason.

I tried 2 other sites: calorieking and weightwatchers. i didn't do much online, but since i have been with SP for 3+ years, i am used to the trackers on this site and find them more userfriendly for me than the other sites. i didn't like WW at all. calorie king was so long ago, i don't remember what the trackers were like. i am also a member of my fitness pal and i like their trackers. i use that site for my blackberry, since it is more userfriendly than SP on my blackberry.

I noticed that when I started using Spark, actually. Before this, I had no previous experience with sites like this, but I HAVE been using a calorie/fitness tracker app on my ipad. It's from fatsecret, which is apparently a site like spark? I don't know why I didn't go there to start with, since if I had made an account there, I would have been able to synch my app. XD

    ANYWAY!

I noticed with spark, I couldn't find anything! My app has so much stuff in it already that I almost never have to enter foods into it. With the spark tracker, I'm constantly having to find and enter things, and it seems a bit difficult to find the right foods. I stopped using the trackers here because ot it. :( I still track religiously, but I do it on my ipad. It's easier to enter food in as I go, so I rarely forget anything! I just wish I could synch my app with spark so I'd get streak credit for all the tracking I'm doing! hah!
