LIME TEAM BL SUMMER CHALLENGE WEEK 9

Thursday, August 09, 2012

I HAD A HARD TIME WRITING DAILY GRATITUDE'S! I USUALLY FIND MYSELF TO BE A GRATEFUL PERSON, BUT I REALLY HAD TO THINK ABOUT WRITING MY DAILY GRATITUDE'S. I HAVE BEEN FEELING NEGATIVE LATELY.

MY TEAM MATES POSTED INTERESTING GRATITUDE'S AND IT HELPED ME TO REALIZE SOME OF MY OWN.

NOW WRITING TWO THINGS I LIKED ABOUT MYSELF DAILY WAS LIKE A TRIP TO THE DENTIST! "IT'S HARD TO SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE WHEN YOU ARE SURROUNDED BY TURKEYS" THIS IS HOW I HAVE BEEN FEELING ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN MY LIFE, THAT SHOULD BE LIFTING ME UP!
I WILL COME TO TERMS WITH THIS BUT RIGHT NOW I AM UNSETTLED.

UPDATE 8-14-12

I ADMIT THAT AFTER I SETTLED DOWN AND GOT RIGHT WITH MYSELF, I REALIZE WRITING TWO POSITIVES HELPED ME THROUGH THE ROUGH TIME I WAS EXPERIENCING...YOU WERE RIGHT JENN! emoticon

I too found this one really hard. Just felt strange thinking of things I liked about myself and telling it to the world. It did, however, make me realize that the things I'm most grateful for are the members of my family. I have my own turkey, who can be so insensitive one minute, and the most supporting the next. Especially now, that I've been doing this for awhile he's not chanting that this is just a phase, and I will be gaining weight by winter anymore. He now notices that I am eating healthier, looking better and because I feel better about myself he gets some of the benefits.... emoticon

I know I'm an Eagle, you're an Eagle, all the LIMES are Eagles.....it may feel like the turkey's at home are holding you down, but we're here to pull you up in the sky....spread those wings and tell them turkeys you've got some flying to do!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon AND WE WILL..... emoticon

It may not say in the expectations but no turkeys allowed on this team!! emoticon

    Rhett,
I too had a big problem with the Gratitude/Positives post
Makes me feel like I am Bragging on myself and I was taught to be humble; not show-case yourself too much. so my mom helped foster my lack of self-esteem. I am trying to get over that though
    You rock!

About gratitude lists... it is the number one activity for creating happiness in my mind but when I read about this is was also said that an every day list of for example five things would become an automatic habit and lose the "power". The survey that author referred to showed that people who either just write one thing or do the list two or three times a week were the ones to kept the grateful mood best.

    Rett,
My best friend keeps a journal ever since she read a certain book. In it, she takes time every day to list 10 things she is thankful for. I have done it for long stretches but have let it slide for the past few weeks. I think it would be good to get back to the habit. It only takes about 10 minutes but WOW, what a bonus to realize how blessed we are every day. Some things may be repeated daily but maybe they are things we should never take for granted!
I love your Sparkpage too! You make a difference!

    Rett,

It was hard for me as well, I know part of the problem is that I have a self-esteem problem, at least now I can admit it, before I never would, still working on over coming it, working with my fellow limes and seeing the things that they are positive about and grateful helped me see some of the things right in front of my face.
Really you have been a big inspiration to the team and a strong team member! Plus you have a Spark page that rocks!

Let me know if I can help in any way!

    Rett,
I know the feeling of being unsettled, etc... MAYBE, you should try the gratitude thing and finding something positive about yourself more often... make it a habit of sorts.
    Hugs,
    Shan
