Still Trying to get on track
Sunday, August 19, 2012
Went on vacation and I thought I was making good choices when I ate, but apparently not. I gained more weight. Last Monday decided I needed to get back on track and cut out gluten completely, again. I do feel better. I also cut dairy except for cheese. Cannot seem to give up cheese. I will get some dairy free ice cream later but now if I want something like that I am eating Popsicles. Well the one that has more fruit then the brand name one. I thing it Dreyers. The kind I get from Costco. OK, I am officially rambling. I have lost 2 lbs so far this week. Need to stick to the gluten free and no regular ice cream.
Still trying to eat the amount of veggies I should be eating but doing better. Baby steps, right?
I am reading a book about Vit. D deficiencies. I have seen things here and there about it and have taken steps to get my levels up but this book is opening my eyes about the whole thing. I am going to make sure that my husband and my youngest daughter is on a good regime of Vit d3. I do not take many supplements to help manage my MS, but this is one I will not do without. Eating properly should take care of most of our needs. Making sure that the foods we we eat are organic as possible and taking out processed foods is a major step in that. Vit D is something that we do not get enough. For the sun to work you need to not wash the effects off for about 48 hours. Since we live in a society that does not take a weekly bath, it is daily, we are washing it down the drain. Plus all the sunscreen that we use blocks Vit D from being made from the sun. It is not that hard to find a good organic source of Vit D3 to take and you are on your way.
I am not afraid of overdosing on Vit D3, my numbers are low enough that it will take some time to get them up. Ideally, I should be at 50 0 70 ng/ml. If you are treating heart Disease or cancer it should be 70-100ng/ml. I have been taking 5000 units per day for 8 months and my level has now reache 35 ng/ml. I increased the amount to 10,000 a month ago. I will have my level checked year to make sure it doesn't increase too much.
I am going to try the liquid drops when I am out of the softgels that I have on hand. It just makes sense to have it get into your system more quickly.
I also have a wheel chair now. I found it quite helpful when we went on vacation. We were at the Woodburn OR outlets for about 5 hours. I was able to get around without tiring out. Normally I would only have lasted about 20 min. I will keep it handy for big days like this. Thank heaven for insurance that helps pay for this.
Let me see...is there anything else. Oh yeah! Still have our house up for sell. Does not look like we will be able to sell. Market is still going down and we can't afford to let it go for much less then we have it listed. Not going to let it bother me. It will happen if it is meant to be. When our contract is up, we will probably not sign another. I want to get my stuff back into the house, I miss sewing and scapbooking. Everything is in storage right now. Even my DVD collection. Bummer. Praying that it will go before the contract is up though.
Well I better get working on the book I am making for my 40 year class reunion. Wow, I am getting old.
