Sparkpeople - Another Failed Attempt?

What about Sparkpeople works?

My immediate thoughts:
1. Community of supporters - This makes the process a lot more fun, gives support, whilst holding you accountable to your actions
2. Tracking - By measuring and tracking results of your own (alongside other people's), it gives you a quantitative look into whether or not your goals are realistic
3. You are really NOT on your own - There is a crowd of people on this site, rooting for you as if they are on your team. Everyone here is committed to a lifestyle change - be it weight, health, or mental motivation

Excited to be utilizing Sparkpeople as a tool that I can use to catapult me to my desired fitness level.

    One of the big differences I find with SparkPeople is the focus on small steps to change the way we live rather than on a restrictive diet and intense workout program. Certainly there are members who haven't let go of the "I'll do this until I weigh ## pounds" mindset, but the whole SparkDiet program tries to wean away from that to "I want to live (healthy) like this for the rest of my life".

    I, too, worry a LOT that I will fail ... again. Years of it have left me doubting - NOT the program; but mySELF. Another Spark friend just urged me to set September goals and make 'em teeny-weeny to create some momentum forward. I will be blogging about that within the next day or two! We CAN do this and make it LAST!
