End of the third week...

I am having so much fun searching out new recipes and putting together my menu plans. I was almost finished with a year's worth of plans and recipes (but not shopping lists) before I started Atkins. I had to start over when I started Atkins on August 13th. So far I have four completed weekly menu plans, shopping lists, and recipes in a notebook. My mother and a few friends have asked for copies which I will be proud to give them.

Meanwhile my blood sugars have come down over 100 mg/dL, I have lost 6 pounds, and my primary doctor is so happy that I am taking care of myself. My daily routines are currently centered on testing my sugars, eating, and keeping up with cleaning the dishes but it is a start towards a more fulfilling life. After all life is not about finding yourself; it is about creating yourself.

The next steps will be getting a chest x-ray for my new job and getting into physical therapy. As soon as I get the chest x-ray and my paperwork finished I am going to learn how to drive a school bus. In physical therapy I hope to get help in developing an exercise program for myself. I have already looked on line at the park district's fitness center and my husband is talking about exercising with me.

I have read over and over on www.flylady.net that if you take small baby steps you will not burn out. I am working on developing my routines and keeping them manageable. What little housework I am doing is a blessing but taking care of me has to be number one priority.
