Signs I am getting there and FFF week 4

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

I have been struggling staying within my calorie range since starting new jobs. I work two different jobs at the same school and have about a 2 and a half hour break between during which time I go to a near by gym. I am rocking the whole working out during the week thing (weekends could use some more commitment...). However, my job is active and I am working out more than I was. There is a candy drawer at work and I have been hitting it hard. I have been trying to eat at the lower end of my calorie range and it is not working since I get hungry at work and then over eat. This week I am trying to eat at least 1300 calories on low days and 1400 on high days. I am giving up all processed foods found at work except one fruit leather. Also, just because it is Friday and I am tired does not mean I get to pig out.

Hopefully, I can play around with my calorie range this week and find the right balance to feel energized (last Tuesday I felt awesome and had energy all day! It IS possible.

All that being said, I am noticing that I am getting closer to being where I want health wise, if not amount of fat to body ratio. I love working out. I am sort of getting better at keeping up with the moves at the zumba class at the gym - I am not very coordinated, but I am getting better. I have some muscle definition in my arms. I have noticed some other muscle definition as well - I have hip bones! My clothes fit better and some are too big (some are still too tight...). When I eat the right amount of calories I have lots of energy and feel great. I feel great when I eat clean, with little processed foods.

I will figure out how much to eat to fuel my new activity level! I have started a new motivation/reward program to help - every day within the calorie range is a dollar to spend on unnecessary, fun items (in addition to my bench mark goals (matte nail polish top coat you are only 5 pounds away)).

You need to make your own drawer or basket or something at work filled with your go to snacks or bring a lunch bag filled with healthy snacks. I am so glad the boys are about out of chocolate candy from halloween. I went nuts too. It's so hard sometimes. BUT we can do this!!! emoticon

    " . . . I have hip bones! My clothes fit better . . ."
Lo-o-o-ve those non-scale success indicators : ) Good for you!

To battle the candy drawer, do you keep some pre-packaged healthy snacks: nuts, crunchy veggies, fresh fruit with you at all times? That can help.
