Merry Christmas and Thoughts on Traveling

Hello you lovely Sparklers!
I hope you've had a lovely day!
I got Christmas started by fixing breakfast for my parents. Fried Eggs, bacon, and grits, a real southern breakfast. The only reason we didn't have biscuits to go with it is that the ham was already in the oven and there was no room. A bit of a saving grace that was, because I absolutely LOVE biscuits. I only ate one egg, two slices of bacon, and only half of the grits that Dad served up. And I did manage to eat half a banana to get a little fruit into the meal.
I managed to eat only one piece of candy today! Woohoo! It was a Fun Sized Twizzler. Thank goodness Mom only got the funsized ones this year. If there is a pound package... I will sit there and eat the whole thing in a day and a half. This way, my portion is already set for me... as long as I resist going back for more!
We had a lovely late lunch of delicious ham, early peas, sweet potatos(the real thing, not a suffle or casserole), and stuffing with ham gravy. YUMMMMMM. I tried not to eat too much, and I think I hit just the right spot because when I finished my 16 oz glass of water, my stomach told me it was full.
I got several of the little things I had asked for, including new sport earbud headphones which wrap around the ear... that helps a whole lot when I start to jog! I'll be testing them out next week, hopefully on the 31st.
I think I am finally all packed for my trip to Florida.
I make a huge list with absolutely everything on it and check off every item that goes into the suitcase or the backpack as it goes in... I've had too many trips where I thought I put something in- like tootpaste or deodorant- when I really had forgotten.
The drive to my grandparents' place should really only take 5 and a half hours, but with my mom and I (Worlds Smallest Bladders R Us) it usually takes 6. Although we always stop for a meal along the way... so I suppose the trip can be made in 5 hours if you can power through.
We always stop for lunch at a Wendy's so I've looked up their menu and it's nutritional values.
I usually order medium fries, medium frosty, and some sort of hamburger or chicken sandwich. But Tomorrow I will be ordering... a large Chili, apple slices, and a small fries, with a cup of water.... altogether it is a little less than 400 calories, which is much better than ordering just a sandwich and nothing else for the same caloric value. I will have enough to eat. I will be fine.
I think the problem will be when we stop at a gas station. We always get kind of tired and blitzed out when we drive... and so we usually buy 20 oz Dr Peppers. Dr Pepper is no longer in my allowable foods... so I checked out the article on healthy travel snacks at the convenience store... I will be looking for trail mixes with fruit and no added sugar OR some sort of jerky...
I will be fine. I will not be taking ANY of the candy that I got in my stocking today, because should I want sweets, there will be plenty at the grandparents... and I will be doing my best to resist that, too.
So Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
Safe Travels for all of us who will be doing so.
And have some Fun and Adventures with some new toys!
I already went out and blew bubbles all over the yard today with one of the dollar store presents I got! And I will be taking my glow in the dark wand with me to Florida so I can have a glow in the dark battle with my brother and sister in law after they open their glow sword and glow axe! Hopefully someone will get pictures of the epic battle and I can upload them!
Spark On, my friends!
