Ok so I don't usually make a big deal if I get a little fitness-related ouchie until the third day hits and it's still there. Today might be the 2nd day, but I am miffed enough that I will go ahead and let out a resounding:
My poor shoulder!!!!
Wednesday I had a session with my trainer and we did Shoulders/Abs/Chest. No biggie, we've done those before. I was pretty proud of myself because we were moving up on weights. *cue She-Hulk theme* I was feeling good, I was feeling strong!
That was the beginning.
Thursday I did grocery shopping, and it was one of those "Wow, everything on this list is HEAVY" type of shoppings. Like a true hardcore gym-rat (or typical lazy person?) I decided ambitiously I could carry it all in from the car with ONE trip, I work out, I'm strong - rawr! HULK SMASH!
That sealed the deal.
Between the combination of the two, my left shoulder decided "Hey Tygrlily, I think I'm not going to cooperate" and is SMARTING LIKE A MUTHER now.
It's amazing even with your non-dominant arm how much one uses one's shoulder. I mean everything from pulling on a shirt overhead to holding a pitcher of water as you close the refrigerator door. And it hurts. I don't think it's "I NEED A HOSPITAL AND A M.R.I. STAT" injury, but it is DEFINITELY not. doing. right.
So yesterday i had to skip my barbell class (*SAD-FACE*) and just ran on the treadmill (no shoulders involved there!) but this morning I wake up and wouldn't you know it's still smarting! Boo.
What bums me is I got my new heart rate monitor, I'm finally seeing some progress off the plateau I've been on since November, and I'm totally FIRED UP and motivated... but now my shoulder is definitely going to be holding me back - hopefully not for long (seriously, if I have to tell my trainer on Monday "we gotta make this a legs day" I might pout like a surly 3 year old) - I'm just super bummed because when motivation ebbs and flows, I try to totally make the most of the hot-streak when it hits.
But my shoulder has other thoughts.
Positive vibes for my shoulder please! *chants* Minor injury gone in 3 days... Minor injury gone in 3 days... Minor injury gone in 3 days... *fingers crossed*
