I was prompted today to blog about the last time I was victim to an "all or nothing" attitude to food or fitness.
The truth is, I can't remember the last time it was "all or nothing" about food.
Taming my sweet tooth for TNCC snakes was more just that, a predilection for these particular lollies. But having ate [too many] snakes, I didn't blow or write off the rest of the day. I continued to make informed choices about what I ate for meals and snacks.
SparkPeople certainly helped with that, I don't think "all or nothing" about food, but I certainly don't keep TNCC snakes in the house!
Fitness wise has been a bit more of struggle, until I started to practise the "I can do anything in 15 minutes" mantra, and have been doing at least 10 minutes of exercise every day for a while now using the SparkPeople videos. So much so, I often get in two videos of either strength exercises, cardio, or both.
Even while being on holiday, I packed my yoga mat and weights and have followed the printed exercise notes because the "free wifi" does not extend to being able to view the videos.
Also, although I am doing a lot more of nothing, we have been going for walks, bike rides, and we have yet to swim in the pool and the sea. Probably won't try the bike riding again, as the hire bikes are not well maintained, and the riding was not enjoyable.
I can say I am a lot more mindful of getting in some exercise. For example, rather than take the car, we walked two kilometres to the general store and back to get a loaf of bread for our lunches. There is no way I would of suggested this prior to starting with SparkPeople.
