I am currently about 9 weeks out from my first mud run. My husband and I are doing a local one that is a beginner type run. A friend of ours did it last year and said I could certainly do it. I'm really trying to put myself out there this year. Not just physically but to help myself mentally with my social anxieties. I'm noticing the more I get out there and do stuff out of the norm it is getting easier.
Currently I'm 3 days into the Couch 2 5K app program from Run Double. I should finish the program with a week to spare provided I keep exercise a priority from now until April. I am also following a free Mud Run Training guide I found online. It mixes running with days of body weight exercises.
I'm pretty excited, yet scared about the whole thing. I'm not a huge social bug and I know these are pretty social events. I'm not embarrassed to run in front of people or anything I just know how my anxieties can get to me so I figure the more prepared I am for this (even if it is an easier race) the better I will feel about the entire adventure.
