changed my goal weight again

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

I saw a personal trainer as a benefit of joining a gym. We didn't do much. She used bio-impedance to check my bodyfat. I was dehydrated at the time so I figure the number was close to useless. She checked my posture during squats. She agreed that my current weight was fine and that I shouldn't try to lose more.

I've lost weight since I've been trying to maintain. My current weight is about 120 pounds. I'm using that as my goal. My previous goal weight on my ticker was 125. So if I'm at goal weight on my ticker, I'm five pounds lighter than I was last month. I know that I'm far from underweight. My BMI is 21.9 which is still in the middle of the normal range. I don't feel alarmed that it's still drifting lower. It's not falling as fast as it did which is a good thing.

On heart rate monitors, I'm not going to buy one.

The personal trainer suggested that I exercise less. At least, she didn't tell me to eat more. I doubt that I'll heed that advise. If I want to do two exercise classes a day, I will. If I want to work out two or more hours a day, that's my business. I find walking helps calm my mind. It relaxes me. Too many times, I can't focus enough to read or watch a show on the computer. I find walking or housework to be relaxing at those times.

Without a job, I'm on disability, I have a lot of time on my hands. I don't make friends easily. I find that going to the gym, exercising is a good way to spend my time. When I was a member of the Y, I could easily spend four to five hours there a day. I don't think I'll spend as long at this gym as I did at the Y, but I haven't been a member a week, yet.

Anyway, she calculated that if I work out five times a week for an hour that I should eat 1910 calories a day. I set my Spark fitness calculator for this and I get a range of 1680 to 2030 calories a day. I suppose that's fairly close. She says the reason that I'm still losing weight is that I'm exercising too much. Still, I don't feel like exercising less. I fear if I exercise less that I'll gain back all the weight that I lost and I have no size tens in my closet.

I've been on SP for a month now and haven't lost a pound. I am at 144 and would like to be at 135. I workout roughly 30 minutes to an hour at a time for 3 to 5 days a week. Depending on my work schedule. Good luck to you. Sounds like you're doing all the right things. I'd love to be able to eat 2000 calories a day.
