the 8 hour diet
Tuesday, April 02, 2013
I first heard about it on Spark Radio when Lily and Karen interviewed a man who co-authored a book by the same title. The premise is that you select an eight hour span and you do all eating within those 8 hours. The remaining 16 hours you fast. For me I chose to eat from noon til 8:00 PM. The book argues that breakfast is really not as important as the publicity about it touts. It suggests that those studies etc have been skewed because the breakfast industry in America is a multi million dollar industry and they certainly don't want to lose any of that income.
For those of you familiar with me and my writing, you know how difficult it is for me to get through a night without eating. Well, the first night on the diet I went through the whole night in stellar fashion....not eating a bit. The next night I cheated a bit with a teeny container of coffee ice cream. Last night at 3:00 AM I was awakened by the need to chow down and I ate a handfull of animal crackers.
But one small cheat a night is NOTHING like what I was consuming. It is tough to make it to twelve noon without a bite, but thus far I've done it. Thus far in three days of this method of eating, I've lost two pounds. Which is nothing to sneeze at considering the weeks it's taken me to lose the other four pounds I've lost thus far.
So that's the scoop. That's the method I'm working with now and thus far, it is working.
