Thanking a generous woman I've never met for her gift.

Thursday, April 04, 2013

I'm writing this to express my appreciation for my surgeon, but thanking God for his marvelous creation, woman.

I'm several hours post-op as I write this and must put on "paper" my thoughts.

I'm in a full plaster cast from knee to tiny opening at toes. My brevis tendon was completely severed. Doc was able to retrieve both ends to weave and reconnect. The longus tendon was still intact, but barely, she (yes, she!) was able to weave and then apply stem cell to both. The stem cells were graciously, thoughtfully and unselfishly donated by a pregnant woman who didn't need her placenta. These stem cells are now becoming my new tendons so I'll be able to resume daily activities and physical fitness without such excruciating pain.

The surgeon collected my blood during surgery, separated it's by-products and used them to seal the abnormal bone formation she shaved off under my ankle bone (outer). By having this knowledge she used my own body as a healing tool in this most incredible surgery.

Although I never met the donor of the stem cells, I want to publicly thank her for this generous gift. I want to thank my Lord for His marvelous creation, and my wonderful surgeon for her incredible insight and knowledge of the human body.

This may not be good reading for some, but to others...we know how mighty He is and I praise Him.
